September UPDATE

The C256 Foenix Project

This is the early video output from the Foenix. This is the first text mode, however, if it is not connected to the memory yet. So it displays only 1 character. This monochrome text mode is with 8x8 character and it is 80 x 60. Already, code has been written by Tom Wilson to support the screen and keyboard. He is waiting for me. I would say that within a week or two we should have that. Stay tune for more...

CRX 2018

CRX turns out to be a great event where I met awesome people. Above you will find the video of my presentation about the Foenix. Please check on youtube for Part II (I think the second part is about the Q&A)

You can also find a review done by "GRay Defender" on youtube or check

DONATIONS

Few people have asked me if they could donate and at first (I am still) reluctant about accepting donations. Essentially because I feel in debt to anybody who gives their hard earned money.

Now, I am not asking for donation. Up till now I paid everything out of my own pocket. However, if you have a very deep desire to help and there is no other way for you to satisfy this desire then to donate and you happen to have disposable income... Then by all means, help! ;o)

In returns, to thank you for your contribution, I will try to find out a way to get your name somewhere so the community can see that you have participated. I don't promise anything on how and when I am going to do that though. It could also be a rebate on a unit later commensurate to the amount donated or else. Please feel free to let me know how your donation could be rewarded and I will try to see if it possible.

PS: If you are looking for specific rewards, please email me before donating.

Thank you!

Development:

What's going on?

At the time of redaction of this newsletter, there are still a lot of work to be done before some code can be ran on the system, despite the fact that there is code written for it and waiting.

Right now, the VideoDAC is deemed functional either VGA or DVI. The Super IO chip that provides the interface to the keyboard/mouse/Internal Floppy/etc has been properly configured, but an interface to the local bus is still needed in order for the CPU to access it. Right now, most of my efforts are focused on the main memory controller and the coding of Gavin's debug interface. I hope to have both done very quickly. After that, some work will be needed to finish the different interfaces to the sound chips and whatever is left to interface to. I hope before the end of the month to be ready to release a couple of units to some developer like Tom Wilson (Kernel) and Jim Drew (Storage Media).
