Aloha,
Recently I was in a large room full of people for a Mother’s Day brunch. As I looked around at the kupuna, parents and keiki enjoying the celebration, I realized just how incredibly lucky I am. Overall life is good despite having been diagnosed with Parkinson’s nearly five years ago.
Wherever I go in Hawai`i, I am surrounded by ohana. During this time of the year when we celebrate our ohana through several different holidays – Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Children’s Day – I would ask that we join together to celebrate in the spirit of thankfulness and giving.
As you celebrate with your ohana, I would ask you to consider a tax-deductible donation to the Hawai`i Parkinson Association. Every dollar raised stays in Hawai`i and helps us support you, the increasing number of Parkinson patients, family and friends that make up the Hawai`i Parkinson community. As the Hawai`i Parkinson Association works to meet the needs with more programs and services, we have to increase our fundraising.
Please consider making a donation in honor or memory of a member of your ohana. The donation would honor that person and would help those who are dealing with Parkinson’s today.
Also, we hope you will save 9AM-noon on Sunday, September 16th, to be part of our 6th annual Hawaii Parkinson Walk at Magic Island. Registration is free at www.hawaiiparkinsonwalk.org.
Mahalo,
Jerry Boster
