Elite Sale of Agricultural Machines

What a day we had at Carmarthen Showground in what can only be described as an elite sale of high end agricultural machinery held in a prime location and conducted by an elite firm of auctioneers.

Robert and Rebecca Davies, having taken the decision to cease the contracting business and look after their own farming interests appointed JJ Morris to sell their vast array of farming machinery, ranging from cultivation machines to slurry kit and the very best of cropping and foraging machines and the tractors to pull them.

As soon as the sale was announced the interest attracted was huge. Queries came in mass from local farmers, English farmers, from across the Irish sea and even one came from the USA, which had to be courteously declined. All the equipment was presented in pristine condition and the amount of queries regarding each item gave a quietly confident aura to the sale.

Sale day exceeded all expectations and all the hard work by Robert and his band of helpers to prepare and present the machines as well as the extensive marketing campaign by the auctioneers for the sale had paid off. A glorious sunny day brought purchasers from Devon, Leicestershire, North Wales and had eager bidders from England, Scotland and Ireland waiting on the phones as well as local farmers, contractors and traders looking to purchase a quality addition to work the land.

The sale started with the slurry kit and first up was the Adquip Trailed Reeler (Photo below). The standard was set from the off with local bidders putting their stamp on the sale starting the bidding high and showing the true value of the quality put ahead of them. The reeler sold for £9200 and 1570m of piping followed in 4 separate lots totalled at £9300 in all.

The next big item of interest was the Kverneland reversible plough. The EG85 4 furrow had been given new blades and looked like new, selling at £10,800. It was followed by two more big cultivation tools, the Sumo subsoiler at £11,500 and the Khun Power Harrow at £17,000.

The sale went on flowingly and the next top price item was the Dal-Bo Maxiroll flat roller selling for £24,000. This roller really was in top condition and came equipped with the P-Box Speedtronic Einbok Seeder.

The cropping machines were also in good demand and the Claas 8400C Butterfly mower showed the way selling at £22,000 while the Claas Liner 3500 went at £24,000 and the Lely Lotus 1250 tedder at £22,500.

Three 20ft Smyth silage trailers followed the tedder and sold well with two going at £12,500 and the third at £13,600. They all came with hydraulic brakes and up and over doors. Have a look at them in the video above.

Only the one machine needed an export license with the Ktwo muck spreader selling to Ireland at £17,200. Then came the tractors. 5 New Holland tractors with all the mod con extras needed for the modern day farmer or contractor. They sold ranging from £40,000 to £63,000 and 10% of the proceeds from the T7235, that made £44,200 was donated to the Jonathan 'Butty' Evans Fund Raising Charity. Check out the video below and watch the tractors sell.

Then came the grand finale for the sale. The monster John Deere self propelled forager and Harvest Lab. Take a close look at his machine with the video below. It attracted a lot of interest and ended up with a very happy new owner from Devon for a snip at £153,000. With the Harvest Lab selling separately at £8100 the combined price achieved wasn't at all bad.

This sale was a massive test and turned out to be a huge success thanks to Robert and Rebecca Davies and all that helped in the preparation of all the machines and also down to JJ Morris and the huge effort behind the marketing campaign and the selling of the sale before and during sale day. We would like to express our thanks to all at Manor Farm for choosing and trusting JJ Morris with this big a step in their future and wish them the very best of luck going forward.
