Have a wonderful Christmas!

20 December 2017

Well, it's my last newsletter for 2017 - hasn't this year just flown by!!!  I hope you have achieved as much as you would have liked to for the year and that you've made many gorgeous memories.  Have a wonderful Christmas and see you in 2018!

It's a big world out there and sometimes we can feel that, even in the middle of a crowd, we're all alone. Ever felt that way?  And this time of year can be tough for many.

Have you tried Reiki? Reiki is a wonderful way to reconnect with yourself. It is a gentle, relaxing holistic hands-on healing therapy that transfers life-giving energy for the healing of mind, body and soul.

Reiki stimulates the immune system and encourages the body to restore balance and harmony. It is non-invasive and only works for your highest good, releasing physical and emotional imbalances and leaving you with a deep sense of calm and relaxation.

This therapy is a great way to gently incorporate relaxation and stress management into your life and a full session can cause re-energising Reiki to flow through your body for several days afterwards. The many benefits of Reiki include deep relaxation, stress reduction, less anxiety, increased wellbeing, a natural immune system boost, increased self-confidence and an increase in wellbeing.

Reiki is beneficial in a variety of complaints including tension, migraines, back and shoulder problems, anxiety and depression. It is also effective for those suffering with cancer as it supports conventional treatment and is safe to use alongside them, helping to reduce the side effects of chemotherapy by aiding in the removal of toxicity.

Reiki can also be incorporated into any massage session to further deepen your relaxation and makes up many of my fabulous 90 minute combination Super Sessions.

To experience Reiki for yourself book your appointment with me at my therapy room at home on Hayling Island.

Focus on… Homeopathy, overindulgence and anxiety

The Festive Season should be about relaxing and connecting with people but all too often it’s just really stressful!

Parties, dinners, lunches, brunches often mean we overindulge in too much food and alcohol (as much as we try not to!).

To soothe or avoid a hangover I’d recommend taking Nux Vomica 30c before going to bed and again three times a day the next day. Plenty of water too to help your liver process all that toxicity.  And it is always a good idea to alternate a glass with water with each alcoholic drink.

Some people cannot tolerate greasy foods much.  After too much sweet or fatty foods take Pulsatilla 30c. Again one before bed and three times or so the next day.

As much as we love our leftover turkey it can sometimes lead to food poisoning. Arsenicum 30c is a great remedy for this and if you’re in the midst of food poisoning take the remedy as often as every half hour for three or four doses or until the symptoms start to dissipate.  Repeat the remedy again if your symptoms return, three times during the course of the day. Again, plenty of water to help flush your system and rehydration sachets are invaluable to get the salts back in.

For some the Christmas period can lead to anxiety.  If you suffer from anticipatory anxiety that leaves your weak and trembling try taking Gelsemium 30c a few times during the day.  For those of you (and kids too) who can’t sleep due to the excitement of it all I’d suggest Coffea 30c.  Or if you can’t sleep due to sheer exhaustion and sleep deprivation try Cocculus 30c a few times during the day.  Another great aid to help alleviate stress and anxiety is Bach Flower Rescue remedy which is available from most chemists and health food shops and I also stock this lovely emotional support in my therapy room so you can always pick it up from me.

If you would like an ‘emergency kit’ put together of if there are any specific issues you would like to talk about please do get in touch.

I am proud to say that I recently became a 'Dementia Friend' and am working towards making my business Dementia Friendly.

You can become a Dementia Friend too by attending a workshop which aims to give you an understanding about what it's like to live with dementia and then turns that understanding into action - anyone of any age can be a Dementia Friend.

Did you know that Dementia currently affects one in 14 people?  One of the reasons I wanted to undertake this training and gain more understanding about dementia is that I have a number of elderly clients.  I have one lady in particular who has dementia and her son reports that her anxiety diminishes for a few days following a session with me, which is very encouraging!

Contact Dementia Friendly Hayling Island to arrange attendance at one of their very informative workshops.  From telling friends about Dementia Friends to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts.

My therapy room on Hayling will be open between Christmas and New Year (Wednesday to Friday).  Just give me a shout to get your session in the diary or click the 'Book Now' button below.

'Normal' hours resume on 2nd January (whatever normal is...!)
