oVc Chronicles

July 2017

Given the number of motorcycle events going on these days, it can only mean that summer is finally here. Last month, we wrote about oVc’s experience at the Mad Bastard Scooter Rally, and this month, we have a couple more events to tell you about.

#MotoSocialToronto

oVc’s two Scotts once again made the trek to the July #MotoSocialToronto held this time at Cygnet Coffee on Dundas near Landsdowne in Toronto’s Junction district. Held the first Wednesday of each month, these gatherings have grown immensely in popularity and demonstrate the power of social media as in the span of less than three years, attendance in these monthly gatherings has jumped from just a handful of enthusiasts, to more than 1,000 bikes now taking part!

The MotoSocials attract a wide range of riders and you will see sport bikes, cruisers, and even custom and vintage rides at these events. Here we have an impressive lineup of Ducati racers that, as you can imagine, drew a great deal of attention

Not to be outdone, the oVc-made custom Ural bobber also garnered many comments and most people were unsure as to what to make of this oVc original. Bystanders really lost their minds when ScottS threw the bobber into reverse and backed the former sidecar bike into its parking spot!

Chrome on the Canal

On 08 July, the town of Campbellford held its annual “Chrome on the Canal” festivities. Formerly known as “Indian Days” because it was sponsored by a long-time Indian motorcycle dealership, this annual exhibition of classic cars and vintage motorcycles has been going on for, well, it’s been going on for a long time!

Wasaga Beach Rally

ScottB also made the ride up to the third annual Wasaga Beach Rally held over the weekend of 15-16 July. This relatively new motorcycle event has grown steadily in both attractions and attendance since its inception and last year, an estimated 10,000 bikes lined up along the shores of the world’s longest freshwater beach.

One word of caution as our webmaster can attest, is that it is very easy to get blocked in by other bikes and you may be forced to spend a few more hours than you had planned originally walking along the boardwalk! Our webmaster also learned that if you ditch your riding boots in favour of sandals for the day, be sure to put sunscreen on the tops of your feet!

Have you been to any interesting bike events in your neck of the woods lately? If so, drop us a line and a picture and we’ll be sure to include it in a future edition of The oVc Chronicles.

A Visit from the BSA Riders Club

Earlier this month, a local BSA riding club dropped by for a visit. The group arrived on an amazing array of machines including some of the beauties on display here.

Are you a member of a local riding club? We'd love to host your group for a Saturday visit. Let us know you're coming and we'll have the coffee and pastries ready for you!

oVc Classifieds

1992 BMW K750 and Sputnik Sidecar - $10,500 plus HST

Powered by BMW's revered water-cooled, inline 3-cylinder powerplant, this rig is a well-mannered combo with enough zip to stay with any traffic. The sidecar is a clam-shell style that opens for easy entry and exit.

With just over 65,000 kms on the clock, this bike has been fully serviced by oVc and will be sold certified.

2014 Ural Patrol - $11,900 plus HST

This black and silver Patrol has travelled 30,000 kms but only 20,000 on a new replacement engine. oVc knows this machine well and has serviced it for several years and can attest to the fact that this rig is in top mechanical shape. Options include extra driving lights, driver fairing and windscreen, passenger windscreen, and two Rotopax fuel containers. Sold certified.

1981 Dnepr - $9,500 plus HST

This is likely the finest example of an early 80s "wheat bike" that you're likely to find anywhere. This rig has been upgraded with over $4,000 in options including LED lighting (sidecar spot light, headlights, and side makers), front bumper, luggage rack with spare tire, Keihin carbs, and C5 electronic ignition.

The motor, rear end, and transmission have all been fully refurbished by the experts at oVc and will be sold certified to the new owner.
