A Spring Celebration with Friends!

Dr. Chirangi visits California

Dear Friends, Family and Colleagues,

Happy Spring to you all. We have had an exciting and fruitful spring with our esteemed guests, Dr. Chirangi and his wife Violeth. In addition to being the Medical Director of Shirati Hospital, Dr. Chirangi is a community leader who has been the driving force behind many health and community initiatives. As our health partner, Shirati Hospital is an integral part of our work towards providing healthcare for the students, teachers and staff at Tina's Pre and Primary School.

We invite you to visit the communities of Shirtai and Nyamagongo and create some unforgettable memories by volunteering with us this summer! Contact us if you are ready for a life-changing volunteer experience.

We Have Much to Celebrate!

Our President Ms. Hattie Smith-Bynes, caught up with Dr. Chirangi and his wife, Ms. Violeth Babuel Chirangi at one of our gatherings in their honor. During their two weeks in the USA, they visited UC Berkeley, Touro University, the Berkeley High School Reach Shirati Club, Middle College High School, and many friends, colleagues, partners, supporters and donors.

At our reunion for past volunteers, he also met with two of our newest volunteers who will be traveling with us this summer. We have found many new supporters and volunteers through the CAL Teach program at UC Berkeley and other local educators, and we continue to work hard to improve the curriculum and overall educational experience at our school.

Ready to Learn

Our students are eager, hardworking and feel very special to have the opportunity to attend our school. For that, we owe thanks to donors and supporters like you who help us provide the children of Nyamagongo and the greater Shirati region life changing opportunities through education. On the 2016 National Exams of Tanzania, our students placed in the TOP 2% in the county.

Solar Power Lights Up Dark Classrooms!

Since our school does not have regular power, our classrooms were not used late in the day until 2013, when solar panels brought some much needed light.
