Once again welcome to our forum, where we consider various Spiritual points of view, and , hopefully, gain a new perspective … which is, in fact, what I want to talk to you about:- Perspective.
In all my years of teaching, counseling, and travelling the world, one thing has become obvious - there is no such a thing as ‘Truth’, but simply our perception of it … and while one culture may consider something to be quite acceptable [or even desirable] another will choose to be greatly offended by it.
Now, I want you to be clear on this - it is a choice, made either consciously or unconsciously, but certainly as a choice.
Some of you reading this would say:” So what ? What difference does it make to me ? After all, I do not live in that environment ? so I’m quite happy with my choices !”
and here I would remind you of Karma … or, if you prefer, to the universal teachings that :” You reap what you sow” [better said by my Pagan friends as “Whatever you give out comes back to you threefold.”]
It’s very shortsighted to believe that we should not care about the values so deeply held by others, especially those that actually show a totally different perspective than our own …
So then, what is the answer … ?
Do we simply create strong borders, restrict entrance to any who hold different values, force each to convert to our own, or go on pointless crusades forcing all to embrace our Will …
[it’s been tried so often and has always failed miserably … you’d think people would have learned from history by now … Oh well, you know what they say: “If you screw up in this Life, don’t worry … there’re plenty more lives left for you to get it right !”]
The answer is actually very simple … Education.
Yes, as easy as that - if we would only bother to learn about the other’s perception, learn the reasons behind it, and go deeper to its original cause and purpose … guess what ?! …
We would all understand each other … and offer respect to our differences !
I’m not advocating that we all cow-tow to a Universal Truth [at this point in our human evolution I find that a little difficult to believe … but then, that’s my perception !] …
Rather , I’m after ending Ignorance, for it is this which is creating our fears, angers, and strong emotional reactions …
Yep, Ignorance is the root of many an evil …
so quickly excused by‘rational thought’
[“Yes officer, I thought that he was going to hit me, so I hit him first … but I
acted purely in self-defense - it’s called a pre-emptive strike !”]
Now, I’m not advocating that this ‘Education’ be unilateral - nope, for it to work we must all get on with it … aaaand that’s where the problems begin:-
Who’s going first …?
To which I would reply: “What are you afraid of ...? Be seen to be wiser, more knowledgeable, more perceptive than others … ?”
No, really, what is stopping you from stepping away from the limiting perceptions of our culture, and go out with open heart to examine the rich tapestry that truly is our World … it’s your choice, right … ?
And now for my final question to you:- “Have you heard of Social Engineering … It’s where we get bombarded with lots and lots of [mis ?] information just so we can be molded to be good little consumers, and don’t rock the boat …”
It used to be called propaganda, but that’s just my perception …
[Twinkies rule !!! They’ll be here forever … how can you doubt their
superiority …?!?]
"As always, I walk the Path with you, all of us travelers together…Namaste …".
