Dear CFSA Exhibitors

With the 2017 show season kicking off shortly, we are pleased to share some exciting new changes with you.

The first change affects the judging section of the show.  Although exhibits still compete in their respective breeds, the colour and pattern groupings are handled differently, as detailed below.

GR 1: Solid

White, Dominant and/or Recessive/Dilute exhibits (incl. Tortoiseshells)

GR 2: Bi-Colour and with white*

Dominant and/or Recessive/Dilute exhibits (incl. Tortoiseshells)

GR 3: Harlequin/Van

Dominant and/or Recessive/Dilute exhibits (incl. Tortoiseshells)

GR 4: Solid Pointed

Dominant and/or Recessive/Dilute exhibits (incl. all Burmese, Tonkinese and Himalayan pointed colours)

GR 5: Solid Pointed Bi-Colours and with white*

Dominant and/or Recessive/Dilute exhibits

GR 6: Solid Pointed Harlequin/Van

Dominant and/or Recessive/Dilute exhibits

GR 7: Solid Pointed Tabbies

Dominant and/or Recessive/Dilute exhibits (incl. all Burmese, Tonkinese and Himalayan pointed colours)

GR 8: Pointed Tabby Bi-Colours and with white*

Dominant and/or Recessive/Dilute exhibits

GR 9: Pointed Tabby Harlequin/Van

Dominant and/or Recessive/Dilute exhibits

GR 10: Solid Tabby

Dominant and/or Recessive/Dilute exhibits (incl. recognised patterns as per the various breeds’ Standard of Points)

GR 11: Solid Tabby Bi-Colour and with white*

GR 12: Solid Tabby Harlequin/Van

Dominant and/or Recessive/Dilute exhibits (incl. recognised patterns as per the various breeds’ Standard of Points)

GR 13: Smoke, Shaded and Shell

Dominant and/or Recessive/Dilute exhibits

GR 14: Smoke, Shaded and Shell and with white*

Dominant and/or Recessive/Dilute exhibits

GR 15: Smoke, Shaded and Shell Harlequin/Van

Dominant and/or Recessive/Dilute exhibits

* “with white” is only applicable to Medium Hair breeds

The second change affects Best in Show.  Nominated exhibits will still compete in the four (4) main categories, namely Kittens, Neuters, Males and Females.  These exhibits will still be judged and scored by a panel of three (3) all breeds judges.

SO WHAT HAS CHANGED?

Previously at this point in a show, the highest scoring Kitten, Neuter, Male and Female in each of the divisions, i.e. Foreign, Medium Hair, Persian/Exotic and Siamese/Oriental/Peterbald were announced.  Unfortunately this sometimes resulted in an exhibit, who did not place under the highest scoring exhibits in the line-up, winning a division.  Potentially the four (4) overall divisional winners competing for Cat of the Day, may not always have represented the actual highest scoring four (4) exhibits on show.

Therefore, to ensure that the best of the best is awarded at shows, there will no longer be Best of Division winners. 

From now on the highest scoring four (4) exhibits in each category, namely Kittens, Neuters, Males and Females will be announced, irrespective of breed and in no particular order.  These sixteen (16) highest scoring exhibits will each receive a rosette stating e.g. Top 4 Kitten, Top 4 Neuter, Top 4 Male or Top 4 Female and will compete for the title of Cat of the Day in one final line-up.  The final line-up will be judged and scored by a panel of three (3) or more all breeds judges and the highest scoring exhibit will be announced as Cat of the Day.  Important: No additional points will be awarded for the final Best in Show line-up.
