Looking for fun things to do with kids in the St. Petersburg area this week? Here are some of the exciting events featured in our weekly schedule and on our calendar!

Monday, November 28

 

Monday morning story times are always fun at Mirror Lake Library! S.P.A.R.K. Pre-Readers (ages 3-5) begin at 10:15am while S.P.A.R.K. Toddlers (ages 1-3) begin at 11am. Later, bring your four-legged friends to visit Santa during Pet Photo Night at Tyrone Square from 6pm until 8pm.

Tuesday, November 29

 

Join Healthy Start at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital at noon for a Lunch and Learn designed with working parents in mind. This session will provide an opportunity to gain or refresh skills around the balancing act of work, family and personal life. The series is free but you must register here to attend. 

 

Wednesday, November 30

 

Enjoy a special story time at Barbara S. Ponce Library's Preschool Reading Adventures at 10am. "Catch that Cookie" combines a fun, interactive retelling of The Gingerbread Man with several exciting S.T.E.M. challenges and games. Other dates for "Catch that Cookie" include Tuesday, November 29 at 3:30pm and Thursday, December 1 at 7pm.

Thursday, December 1

 

Calling all young artists! Kids ages 5-16 can receive step-by-step instruction from a local artist to create a one-of-a-kind canvas painting at Pint Size Picasso at St. Pete Beach Rec Center. The class begins at 3:30pm and costs $35. From 5pm until 9pm, celebrate Holiday Magic in the EDGE on Central Ave. Festivities will include tree lighting, carolers, window decorating contest, santa shuttle, winter bubbles, family activities, outdoor movie (Elf), free gift wrapping center and lots of retail and restaurant specials.

Friday, December 2

 

It's a festive Friday! Head to England Brothers Park in Pinellas Park today and Saturday, December 3 for the 14th Annual Holiday in the Park. This community-wide event begins at 5:30pm with the tree lighting at City Hall and will feature holiday music, hay rides, children's games, pictures with Santa  ($5), food trucks, hay maze, bounce house and more! Admission is free. If you're looking for a parade, the St. Pete Beach Boat Parade and Winter Festival begins at Horan Park at 6pm. The Winter Festival will include live music, hot chocolate, art projects for children, and even a special visit from Santa!

 

Saturday, December 3

 

This Saturday is PACKED with fun holiday events for the whole family! Here are some of our favorites:

  • Home Depot Gingerbread Man Candy Dish Workshop (9am-12pm)
  • Paint with Santa at Practically Pikasso (9-11am)
  • Lowe's Build and Grow Christmas Ornament Workshop (10am)
  • Downtown St. Petersburg Santa Parade (10am-12pm)
  • John's Pass Village Christmas and Jingle Bell Tournament (10am-9pm)
  • Snowfest at North Straub Park (10:30am-3pm)
  • Santa at Sundial St. Pete (1-5pm)
  • Holiday in the Park at England Brothers Park (5:30-10pm)
  • Santa and Glice Skating at North Straub Park (6-9pm)
  • Holiday Stroll 2016: Rockin Lights Family Fun Night at Largo Central Park (6:30-9:30pm)

Sunday, December 4

 

End the week with a ride on the Largo Central Railroad at Largo Central Park. The train runs from 10am until 4pm this Saturday and Sunday. There is no charge for rides but donations are always welcome. Have you been looking for somewhere to volunteer with your little ones? The Littlest Trunk is hosting Little Acts of Love Family Service Day from 4:30 to 5:30pm where you and your children ages 3-10 can help sort and pack food donations to The Kind Mouse, a local non-profit food pantry dedicated to feeding the hungriest children in our community schools.
