In general, what is your athletic background? I played many sports growing up but volleyball has always been my favorite, maybe it’s because of my height :). I played for Kalamazoo College and I currently play indoor as well as beach volleyball. Almost every weekend you will find me playing in a league or a tournament. Through playing college volleyball I did a lot of lifting which has helped me transition to doing CrossFit.
How did you learn about CrossFit Kalamazoo? I was looking for a gym to join, but realized I wanted more than just a place to workout. I wanted to find a workout that had the lifting as well as team elements that I had through volleyball. Several people I knew were doing CrossFit and CrossFit Kalamazoo happened to be closest to my house, so I gave it a try. Best decision I could have made.
How has CrossFit Kalamazoo changed your life, lifestyle, and level of fitness? I am in better shape now than I was as a collegiate athlete. My vertical has increased and helped my volleyball game significantly. CrossFit has also changed my life by bringing so many wonderful people into it! Through them I am held accountable and enjoy coming to workout!
List short/long term goals you would like to accomplish through CrossFit Kalamazoo: My current CrossFit goals are to be able to do pull-ups as well as double unders.
What do you like most about CrossFit Kalamazoo? I enjoy the amazing people that I have the privilege of working out with and the way that CrossFit pushes me harder than I could ever push myself. I also love getting to do the Cupid Shuffle at 6am :)
Achievements you’d like to highlight within your life: Completing my college degree in mathematics is something I am proud of but I can’t say I have done anything noteworthy. Although, I did find an error in my math book once and I got to call the company so they could have them reprinted, it’s the little things in life :)
