Apply to pitch to LAVAN's community of angel impact investors!  LAVAN is looking for 4 Israeli impact entrepreneurs working on scalable solutions to global challenges in health, education, poverty alleviation, and the environment; companies with funding strongly preferred.  Application deadline is March 3rd!

                 Thought for Food Global Conference               

Thought for Food Global Summit is a unique 2-day experience bringing together over 300 innovators who care deeply about how to provide nutritious food to our growing global population.  Participants include students, startups, investors, governments, companies and more.  Register for the event on April 1-2 in Zürich, Switzerland and find out more here!

               Sankalp Global Innovations Challenge               

Register for one of the largest events on low-middle income needs, "Innovations for the Next 3 Billion."  The summit convenes startups, enterprises, investors, foundations, and large corporations on April 20-22 in Mumbai, India!  Compete in the Sankalp Challenge for innovative technology products for the Next 3 Billion; top 10 innovations are featured at the summit!

                      SunRISE TechBridge Challenge                   

Receive up to $100,000 in technical validation services, up to $130,000 value at an acceleration program, and venture funding!  In partnership with GSM and Greentown Labs, this challenge seeks innovations to lower the cost of photovoltaic (PV) systems. More info here and link to apply by March 16!

            MobileODT Partakes in World Cancer Day            

For World Cancer Day, MobileODT screened women for cervical cancer in Kenya using their latest piloted cancer detection technology.  These devices require only an internet connection and mobile phone, and doctors take a "cervix selfie" with the phone's camera for analysis.  Read more about it here!

Doctome: The Health App for Anywhere, Any Language

This Israeli startup developed an app that connects people around the world with health professionals and allows them to receive clinical summaries and prescriptions virtually.  Global Innovation Development News 

  Harnessing Innovation for Humanitarian Emergencies 

In this conference, new and creative ideas that directly benefit those most in need were explored by the Red Cross and Red Crescent.  Examples include virtual reality sensing and tents shielded against winter exposure!  You can read more here!

      XPrize Launches Global Development Challenges    

The Xprize challenge for innovation is expanding to include global development competitions addressing problems in developing countries!  The two piloted prizes will be on spreading clean water and responding to women in distress. Prizes have commitments in advance to move innovations to market after competitions close.  Stay tuned!

                   Tackling Climate Change in Slums                 

Slums are hit the hardest when 
catastrophes strike because of climate change. OpenIDEO's Amplify Program encouraged solutions to this problem. One innovative solution is to rearrange slum neighborhoods using user-based mapping.  Read more about this solution, as well as other winners of this OpenIDEO competition.

                  Distributing Solar Panels by Drone                 

German company Mobisol explores delivery of solar panels to off-grid homes by drone.  Recharging stations on home roofs would supply the drones with the energy needed to move around.  Mobisol already offers solar panel installment plans and is expanding with this novel idea.  Read more here!
