Independence "Our independence has come at a cost." I am sure you have heard this expression and even may have used this expression, yourself. At Compassionate Home Care, the team hopes you had a great Independence Day with your family and friends. We reflected on our ILS program in the face of Independence Day and think about how important independence is to not only our country but to individuals. Independence is really what Compassionate Home Care is all about; we work as a team to allow our clients to live as independently as possible while residing in their own homes. We not only thank the brave men and women who have served our country to give all of us independence, but we also thank your compassionate and giving caregivers who work so hard to give their clients the opportunity to have independence, too. Thank you! |

How to Utilize ILS Curriculum By Kelsey Breitkreutz Have you ever noticed the long list of links at the bottom of the ILS ISPs that are sent when we take on a new client? Those links are ideas for ILS curriculum; they are teaching ideas for ILS Trainers to use with their clients. Please click on the link below to see how one of those lessons might be utilized with an ILS client in a practical and applicable way.

Monday Meetings By Stacey Pinz Have you ever tried to call someone in the office on Monday afternoons just to have your call go directly into voicemail? Monday afternoons are set apart for the Client Relations team to meet to go over important occurrences and learnings throughout the previous week, and it allows the client relations team a chance to discuss issues with clients, concerns that employees have brought to the table, and general agency topics. It also allows some time to discuss the direction of the company as well as discuss strategies for helping to support caregivers. If you have a concern that you would like the team to discuss, please let us know, and we will bring it up at the Monday meeting. In the meantime, remember that if you try to call on Monday afternoon and your call goes directly into voicemail, it is nothing personal. We are carving time out to make sure we are all on the same page regarding providing quality services for our clients and helping our caregivers to do that effectively, too. |

Home Care for the Elderly in their Own Homes: Important Things to Remember Source: Aging in Place -- National Council for Aging Care When caring for the elderly, there are a number of important things you have to take into consideration. As well as the possibility of nursing home care and long-term care, there is an increase in the number of older people who have complex needs. There is also an increase in the amount of home support given to older people. This is a great time for those giving the home support services to learn one or two things about giving more care to seniors. It is general knowledge that the greater a person’s disability, the greater their needs. However, some elderly people have said their needs are not met by those who take care of them.

JULY Highlights (Keep them Coming) Compassionate Home Care, we have had some important things going on in JULY! - McKenna has shown professionalism and diligence in caring for her clients. She has worked with several clients since beginning in June, and we know that no matter who we send her to provide care for, she will do so with utmost compassion and care. McKenna is in school to be a nurse, and as we have listened to client feedback about her care, we see a bright future for her in caregiving.
- Katie has gotten some great reviews from her clients! In fact, one of her clients even called the case manager and told her what a great help Katie has been for her. Way to go, Katie!
- Christine has received excellent feedback from her clients and the case workers, too. Christine's clients comment on how hard she has worked for them and has quickly built relationships with them.
- Becky H. picked up a new client, and immediately stepped in to help the client feel more at ease about having services. The client was nervous, but after meeting Becky, she is comfortable and looking forward to Becky's next visit.
- Tami S. has been able to come back to some new clients and immediately win their hearts. All of her new clients, and some of her old clients, have all commented on how hard Tami works for them. Thanks for your consistency, Tami!
- Amy has been working hard to continually work with ILS clients and ILS trainers to help them be more independent and work together more efficiently. Amy has been going into the clients' homes and helping to make suggestions for things to do, and digging in to help them begin learning new skills for even greater success at living an independent and fulfilled life.
- Miranda has continued to listen to her clients needs and desires. She has compassion for them, but understands how to make suggestions in a way that helps the client feel like they are still in control. Miranda has patience and compassion for her clients and truly wants to see them reach their goals.
- Mary has continued to work with her client to reach the goal of getting a driver's license. She has helped him to continue to feel more confident in the questions and she is helping him to increase his self esteem. Thank you for your diligence in finding creative ways to keep your client engaged and for always working so hard to meet all of your clients' needs.
- Vicki has lived her last month in a state of constant motion, literally. However, she has not missed a beat with her clients. She is truly the picture of professionalism. No matter what she has going on in her personal life, she still makes her clients feel like they are her top priority during the time in which she is with them. Her clients adore her and are constantly asking for more time with her. She is at 40 hours, and does not have any more time to give! Thanks you, Vicki, for all you do.
- Danielle J. Has jumped in to immediately begin making a huge difference in her clients' lives. She has made tremendous strides in building rapport with her clients and immediately trying to jump in and help them as much as possible. Danielle's innovative and out-of-the-box thinking has already proven to be a great asset to her clients and meeting their needs.
- Jody B. has a caring heart and a compassionate demeanor, and her clients have immediately noticed her energy and enthusiasm for trying to build relationships with her new clients and working to help them feel comfortable with her.
- Kay F. has come in over the past month and worked with several new clients. She goes into the clients' homes with determination and focus and jumps in to get the job done thoroughly. Feedback from clients has been positive, and we look forward to hearing more about how Kay impacts her clients' lives.
- Kathy D. has worked hard to build strong rapport with her client, and the two of them have finally reached a trust level that allows them to work together comfortably and productively. Kathy has made several adjustments to her schedule to meet the client's needs, and she is client-centered in all she does. Kathy has a heart for her client and the clients for which she fills in, and she is definitely good at what she does.
- Alisha H. has continued to work hard for her clients as well as fill in where she is needed. She has excellent communication with her clients as she checks in frequently with family members as well as the office. She sends pictures with concerns, and she makes sure to document thoroughly when she sees something that needs to be addressed.
- Cathy S. continues to meet her clients needs through her dependability and compassion. She strives to communicate with her clients to make sure she is meeting their changing needs, and she adjusts her cares as her clients needs do, in fact, change. Cathy has been a strong member of the team from the beginning, and Compassionate Home Care and Cathy's clients are so blessed to have her on the team.
- Tracy S. worked with her ILS client to bake some delicious peach pies. Her client deals with several allergies, so she has to select her ingredients carefully. Tracy continues to come up with creative tasks and unique activities to help her client to feel more comfident and self assured. Great work, Tracy! Those pies sure do look yummy.

Homemaking/Companion Care Staff: Kimberly Randall Kimberly joined the Compassionate Home Care team in April, and she has been an important part of her client's life. She has helped to create a sense of stability and normalcy for her client. She comes in with her positive attitude and her cheerful demeanor and works hard to meet her client's needs. Kimberly has been a go-getter from the day we met her. She has continually asked for more clients, and has been willing to fill in whenever we need her. Unfortunately, we have not had many clients near her location, but Kim waits patiently. Kim is professional, and she is kind. She is a tremendous asset to our team and her client. Compassionate Home Care looks forward to being able to offer Kim more clients as well as watch her continue to fulfill her client's needs allowing him to remain at home even longer.

| | ILS Trainer: Kelsey Breitkreutz Kelsey joined the Compassionate Home Care team in May and began making a significant impact immediately. Kelsey is an intern, so she has been filling in for all of the Compassionate Home Care employees who need days off for vacations and long weekends. As an intern/sub, she has visited numerous new clients and has had to deal with the "new-client-meeting jitters" almost every day of her job this summer. Kelsey has done this in stride. She has been friendly, positive, and professional in all circumstances. Kelsey has received numerous positive comments in that when we call clients to ask if they want a sub, many have said, "Please send Kelsey back if you can," and as you know, that speaks volumes because most of our clients do not like to have subs, and when they do have subs, they typically do not have good feedback about them (just because they are not their regular caregivers whom they love and adore). Kelsey has been great at jumping in and picking up where regular staff have left off, which helps put her clients at ease and helps them to know that she is truly there to make sure their needs are being met. Additionally, Kelsey has helped tremendously in the office, too, with some pretty tedious and mundane projects, and she does so with that same professionalism and positivity that she shows her clients. Some of the Compassionate Home Care clients have been fortunate enough to keep Kelsey after she returns to school, and we feel fortunate that she is planning to stay on the team. Kelsey has a team mentality as well as a client-first mentality, and we feel fortunate to have had her help this summer. | | |

| | ICLS/Direct Caregiver: Tasha Towle Tasha joined the Compassionate Home Care team in February to care for one client. Her client has a lot of hours as Tasha works full time with just her one client. Throughout her time with the client, Tasha has provided excellent documentation and communication with the office as well as her client's family members. Additionally, Tasha has piloted allowing caregivers to set their own schedules because she only works with one client, and she was patient while the agency worked through the kinks of allowing caregivers to do this. In addition, whenever she has issues or questions, she is quick to communicate with the office and alert us to those challenges. Finally, Tasha has recruited several outstanding employees to Compassionate Home Care. We appreciate Tasha's patience as we work with her to care for her client while also being diligence in continuing to help Compassionate Home Care grow by recruiting strong team members and helping to fulfill the mission of Compassionate Home Care of caring for clients with dignity and respect. Tasha definitely stepped up for her client and has fulfilled this vision for her client on a daily basis. | | |
