Amanda Johnston

Summer! Summer! Summertime!

It's hot! This picture is a throwback to cooler days in March at the Langston Hughes House in Harlem. I'm so grateful for the places Another Way to Say Enter has taken me. Thank you, dear reader, for spending some time with my poems and entering each line with an open heart. Since its release, I've felt vulnerable and powerful walking deeper into my truth and craft. More writing is on the horizon. Follow me on Twitter @amejohnston for updates. I look forward to sharing it with you soon.  Until then, take those layers off and let the sun shine on your face! Get outside. Dance. See the people you love. Make new friends. Share a poem. We need more of the good of us unleashed in the world. Thank you for the joy you bring.

Love,

Amanda

"Amanda Johnston’s first book sings with the passion of our great warrior poets. They reassure me of a fierce connective tissue between us. Johnston’s poems apply just the right degree of salve and just the right degree of fire to our current American wounds."

I had a wonderful time bringing Another Way to Say Enter to Brazos Bookstore in Houston. My dear friend Jonathan Moody shared the mic with me. Such a sweet store with LOTS of poetry books!

The brilliant women of the Black Ladies Brunch Collective welcomed me with such honest poems and fierce joy (and mimosas!) at the lovely East City Bookshop. Check them out the next time you're in D.C. A great selection and dogs are welcome!
