Experience the holistic approach

6 September 2017

An explanation of what holistic therapy truly is and a wonderful story of a client's journey over the last year.

Holistic treatment... what is it?

'Holistic' is a word that is bandied about a lot these days.  A lot of people advertise themselves as holistic therapists or offer holistic massage or other treatments.  But what is holistic treatment actually?

And is it something you should be looking for in your treatments and in your therapist?

The word holistic means 'whole'.  Holistic therapies and forms of treatment consider the whole person - body, mind, spirit and emotions.  And according to the philosophy of the holistic approach one can achieve optimal health through bringing balance into your life.

Holism is the cornerstone of homeopathy and the concept was pretty much drummed into me throughout the four years of my degree course.  And I have brought this philosophy into all aspects of my work.  The therapies I offer, where appropriate, deal with you as a whole person, encompassing all that you are, and each session is tailor-made for you as an individual.

Unlike many other therapies, with the holistic appproach I am not just looking to treat the symptoms, but to establish the cause, whether it be internal or external, and start to deal with that too. The aim is to rebalance the body so that it achieves a state of natural harmony.  Which is why I am so nosy and ask so very many questions!

So wherever possible, your session - whatever you have booked in with me for - will be tailored specifically for your needs.  Call Leslie on 07871 697000. Today.

A client's story...

I have lovely client whom I have been working with for over a year now and I wanted to tell a bit of her story and how she describes the dfference that her regular sessions with me has made.

When she first starting see me, in August last year, she was terribly anxious.

Her anxiety was taking over her life a bit and she was working towards a particular event she needed help with.  She was coming to see me regularly and as the date for this event approached she was beginning to feel a bit more confident about it.  And she got through it!

She has continued to see me regularly and the anxiety is now very much in the background for her.  She has recently described it like a tin can with elastic bands around it.  This is how her anxiety felt.  Constricting.  One by one, she says, we have cut away these rubber bands and she can now move freely.  And her analogy certainly confirms the difference I can feel in her body.  Where before her back, in particular, was rigid and very tense - now she is much freer and more relaxed.  More relaxed about life in general.

I recently bumped into her and her husband in town and I was struck by how confident and outgoing she was!  Truly a changed woman!

So if there is something in your life that is holding you back, give me a call and let's have a chat about how I can help you.

Focus on... tension headaches

A large number of my clients have been suffering with tension headaches during this heavy weather we've been having.  Are you one of them?

That tightness around your scalp, the constant ache and pressure at the back of your neck and around your eyes...

If this sounds all too familiar to you, Indian head massage can help!

Whether your headaches are from humid weather, from too much time in front of a computer, driving for long periods, or a build up of stress, a tension headache can last hours and even days. And that is the very problem with stress or tension. Once you've reached this point it can be hard to find your way back to a state of relaxation, or ‘balance.’

Through regular massage of the shoulder, neck, head and face muscles we can begin to relieve this tension and gently ease the pain away. Indian head massage relaxes these muscles whilst improving circulation to them. It totally relaxes the nervous system, calming pain receptors and releasing endorphins to improve your mood and release those tense and tired muscles.

If you’re suffering from tension headaches, or wish to prevent one occurring get in touch with me to book your Indian head massage and find your bliss again!
