Save the date! 2017 Annual Ontario Council on Community Interpreting Congress - November 23rd, 2017 - Planning for the 2017 Annual OCCI Congress is in full swing and we are looking forward to a great event. This year's event will highlight the integration of Healthcare Interpretation Network (HIN) and feature the first OCCI Interpreter Job Fair. The annual job fair has been a legacy of HIN, and OCCI is proud to now host this important networking event. "Working with Your Professional Interpreter" guide is now available through the OCCI As part of the integration of Health Interpretation Network (HIN) into the OCCI Healthcare Division, we have launched an online order form to make it easier to order free copies of the "Working with Your Professional Interpreter" guide. The brochure has been translated into 15 languages and is intended for individuals facing language barriers, explaining the role of professional interpreters in healthcare and answering such questions as: - What does an Interpreter Do?
- Who is a Professional Interpreter?
- Do I need an interpreter?
- How Do I Get an Interpreter?
- How do I ask for help?
The brochure is currently available in: Arabic, Chinese-Simplified, Chinese-Traditional, English, Farsi, French, Hungarian, Italian, Korean, Nepali, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Tamil, and Vietnamese.
