More New Classes!

Basic Sewing Machine Maintenance

If you're like some of us, you've taken your sewing machine to a shop for repair, only to find that a simple oiling, cleaning, or tension adjustment was all it needed to keep sewing beautifully. Learn how you can diagnose and repair those issues on your own, Monday, January 23, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 4 to 6 p.m.

Focus on Beautiful Hems

Together we'll make beautiful hems perfectly appropriate for the garment or accessory you're sewing. Blind-stitch hems, catch-stitch and slip-stitch hems, hand-sewn and machine-sewn, hand-rolled, machine-rolled and serger-rolled, stabilized, straight or curved. So many choices! Hem with us Tuesday, January 24, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 5 to 7 p.m.

Prep Your Fabric

Have you ever made a garment that fits like a dream, only to have the fit completely change once it's cleaned? Suffer no more! Learn how best to prepare your fabric before you sew. Thursday, January 26, 4 to 6 p.m.

Josefina Returns!

Beginning February 2nd, Josefina is back with us every Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. What will we be making? Come and find out! We've got beautiful upholstery fabrics and more to experiment with together. Join us!

You know that feeling of frustration when you're trying to follow the directions in a pattern for sewing or knitting or crocheting, and things just don't line up the way they ought to? It might not be your fault! Sometimes errors in pattern instructions slip by editors, and you've ended up with incorrect information, or steps left out completely. Check on-line for "errata" (fancy word for mistakes) on that pattern number, publisher or name, or bring it by the shop, and we'll try to help you understand what went wrong.

1872 Knitting Circle News

The 1872 Knitting Circle has returned to 1872 Cafe! It's free, unless you want to buy a coffee and/or treat from our hosts. Do come and knit, Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon, at 1872 Cafe.

Remember...

Every Saturday is Scrappy Saturday! Our small scrappy bags stuffed with scraps and rolls of fabric and/or unmarked balls of yarn are only $1 all day (regularly $3 on weekdays). Bring your own grocery-sized tote and stuff it full for only $5 (regularly $10). Stop by and fill a bag this Saturday, and every Saturday!

Monday Mindful Walks from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Walk with us every Monday morning through our beautiful, historic Susan B. Anthony Neighborhood!

Measure Up!/Fit It! is back on our calendar, Monday, January 16 at 11 a.m., and again at 4 p.m.! If you wish your clothing fit you better than it does, or if you want to make garments to fit your unique shape, the first step is to obtain an accurate set of measurements. Georgia will provide you with a map of your body. She will also help you understand how to use it when modifying clothing, and when purchasing patterns, fabrics and yarns. Sign up today! If those times aren't good for you, we still offer the class by appointment. Call 585-328-2642 or email info@sewgreenrochester.org!

The date of our fundraiser tea and silent auction has changed. We will not be meeting January 28. Please watch this space for news of when and where it will be in the new year. Thank you!
