Learning a New Skill

This past week Ribinson and Jusme offered a three-day seminar for any Kids Club member to attend.  Participants learned t-shirt design and printing! The children learned how to mix colors and print the art work and words.  So creative!  The shirts will be sold to help support the club activities, members, and their families.  Classes were held at the HOME house; each participant was fed two meals each day. Thank you to volunteers who assisted in preparing meals.

Ribinson said, "These kids would abandon anything to stay at the HOME house and print random shirts!"  What a great community building project.

West Georgia CCF in Action

West Georgia Christian Campus Fellowship visited the Bonnette kids club and had the opportunity to teach over 100 children.  CCF acted out the Easter story from the triumphal entry to the resurrection.   The Bonnette club meets outside in Rodney Jusme's home community.  After the club activities Jusme's soccer team met Alix's team from Canann for a soccer match.  All the kids plus another 100 people from the community congregated to cheer for both teams!

West Georgia's own, Taylor, came onto the field to play for part of the game. He was playfully mobbed as the crowd cheered wildly in encouragement. Later that evening, Jusme shared with the team, "Today was special to me as when I was a little boy my father never let me go onto this field to play soccer.  The players were fighting and always causing trouble.  Today we saw a new day for soccer here in Bonnett.  Two teams came together and prayed and played as one."  The contrast was amazing.

It is a sweet moment when all the players and coaches kneel together as 200 on-lookers witness their faith in action.  These soccer programs are making a difference in the lives of the players and making bold statements in their communities.

Obedience, HOPE in the LORD

It was late afternoon and we had just returned to our hotel after an all-day young adult event where there was preaching, small group discussion, music and games.  The whole church was fed after the morning worship and then the young adults and children stayed for the final program hosted by West GA CCF.  HOPE in the LORD was the message Jusme brought to the church that morning.

We had picked up eight young men from the CAD orphanage soccer team who were going to be baptized that afternoon. Ribinson had been teaching on salvation for several weeks and these eight had made a decision for Christ.  We were honored to be there to witness their baptisms.

As we prepared, one of the American team members stepped forward and shared how he too was wanting to surrender in obedience.  Ribinson shared that Keke, the team assistant coach and security guard for CAD had also asked to be baptized that day.  Keke spoke, "I have always had God in my life but today I know that if my boys are going to be completely obedient I have to step up too."  HOPE in the LORD. We were watching this being lived out.

These moments are why HOME and LUKE101 exist. We welcomed ten new brothers into the family of Christ that afternoon.  Their walk will look much different than mine, but my walk has been deepened by being witness to their faith.

A huge thank you to West GA CCF led by Ronda Ivey.

What a wonderful week of work, creativity, love, and support!

HOME can't wait for you to return!

Continue to pray for Ribinson, Jusme, Alix, and Bully

as they serve, mentor, and love

the least of these in their communities.
