Dear Friends of Steel City Squash,

Anand S. says it best, "there's a constant movement...and you rarely take breaks." 2015 was a year of constant movement and few breaks for Steel City Squash's student-athletes from Pittsburgh, PA. There were many highlights, ranging from our first tournament trip to the NUSEA Midwestern Individuals to almost doubling the innaguaral Steel City Cup's fundraising goal. But of all of them, the greatest highlight was seeing the growth of our young participants both on and off the court. Though I could tell you what Steel City Squash means to our student-athletes, it is best to hear it directly from them in the video below (click on the image below to watch it).

Steel City Squash currently serves 32 fourth through sixth grade student-athletes from three partner schools: Miller African-Centered Academy, St. Benedict the Moor School, and Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy. Our team members practice at least three days a week during the academic year and participate in a whole-day, six week Summer Discover Program focused on academic advancement.

In the coming year, Steel City Squash will begin a new partnership with Pittsburgh University Prep, the sixth through twelfth grade public school serving the Hill District. With the new partnership, SCS will aim to serve 45 student-athletes by the end of this academic year. Steel City Squash will also travel to more tournaments, beginning in January in Boston, MA for Steel City Squash's first trip to the NUSEA Urban Team Championship. For all of the students going, it will be their first time on a plane and many of their first time away from home for a weekend.

Steel City Squash relies on the generosity of supporters like you. None of the fundamental experiences of travel and competition are possible without you. As 2015 closes, we ask that you remember Steel City Squash in your year-end giving and be an agent of change for our deserving student-athletes. All gifts are 100% tax deductible and go directly to programming efforts. Click on the "Donate" button below or send a check to:
