Cub Scout Pack 375

March 2019 Newsletter

It's hard to believe that this is the last newsletter that some of you will be receiving from Pack 375. Some of the Scouts receiving their Arrow of Light next week have been with the Pack for 5 years!  It will be sad to see them go, but I am excited for them to start the next journey in their lives.

All of the Scouts in our pack have been busy with fun activities and earning new awards.  I'll highlight a few of those activities below and we will recognize the awards next Thursday at our Blue & Gold Banquet and Crossover Ceremony.

What do you call a plate after dinner?

Blue & Gold Banquet

and

Crossover Ceremony

Our annual Blue & Gold Banquet and Crossover ceremony is March 21st at 6:00 PM.  That's less than 1 week away!

For additional details and to sign up, please visit our SignUp Genius page.

If you have not already done so, please sign up TODAY!!!  We need a final head count so we can finalize our food order and table lay out.

Pinewood Derby Theme Awards

Voting for the Pinewood Derby Theme Awards will be done immediately before the Blue & Gold Banquet and Crossover Ceremony.  Please make sure to arrive on time or a few minutes early so that your Scouts have time to vote.  Voting logistics are being worked out and will be announced in a separate e-mail.

Summer Camp

Please remember to keep these dates in mind while planning your summer:

Cub Day Camp: June 17-21 2019

Cub Family Camp: June 17-21 2019

Webelos Resident Camp: July 21-25 2019

We will have a signup table at the April Pack Meeting.

For additional details, please see our February Newsletter.

Pack 375 Spring Campout

May 3 - 5, 2019

We have reserved the entire group camping area at Black Moshannon State Park for our Spring Campout. More details will follow as the date gets closer, but please mark your calendars now.

For families who are not ready for tent camping, there are a limited number of cabin and RV camping sites available in the park, but in a different location from the group camping area. You are welcome to reserve and stay in those sites and join us in the group camping area for our activities. These sites fill up quickly, so make sure to book them ASAP.

Scouts in Action

Our Scouts have been busy representing Pack 375 in the community this mont.  Here are a few highlights:

Our Tiger Den visited the Alpha Fire Company to tour their station, explore fire trucks and try on some equipment.  What fun!

The Park Forest Wolf Den made headlines with their contributions to the Jared Box Project!  They were featured in the Jared Box Newsletter and in the Centre Daily Times.

"They had a lot of fun putting them together and are excited for them to help kids feel better."

A group of Scouts from Pack 375 and siblings performed the Flag Ceremony at the Bryce Jordan Centre before the Harlem Globetrotters performance!

Scoutbook Tip - Calendar Subscription

Did you know that you can subscribe to the Pack's Calendar and your Den's Calendar on Scoutbook?  Once completed, activities will be automatically added to your electronic calendars. There are separate subscriptions for the Pack and each Den so that you only subscribe to the information relevant to your family.  Here is how to get the calendar subscription links:

  1. Log into Scoutbook.com
  2. Click on "My Dashboard"
  3. If Upcoming Events are not already displayed, click on "Events"
  4. Click on "My Calendar" (Below the Upcoming Events)
  5. That should open a calendar view of upcoming events.
  6. Below the calendar is a list of calendars you can subscribe to.  Click on "Subscribe" next to each calendar to get the subscription link.

The procedure for adding the calendar is device specific.  Here are a few guides:

July Pool Night

The pack would like to have a "Pool Night" sometime in July and we are currently looking for a parent or group of parents to help with the planning.  Please e-mail Joe Zanghi if you are interested in helping us out! cubscouts375@gmail.com

Designer Handbag Auction

Sunday, April 14th, 2019

If you like designer handbags, you wont want to miss the Annual Totes for Tomorrow's Scouts Designer Handbag Auction on Sunday, April 14 at the Brookmere Winery & Vineyard Inn. Even if you are not a designer handbag person, come spend the afternoon with us and enjoy the great food and fun. This has become a great annual event, organized by a great group of local women who raise funds to help support Seven Mountains Scout Camp.  More information can be found on their Facebook Page.
