Monday, August 21 Today's the day! While we in Florida won't see the total solar eclipse- the first in the lower 48 states since 1979- a partial eclipse will be visible to everyone. The eclipse will peak in the St. Petersburg area around 2:49pm when the moon obscures about 80% of the sun. Check out our latest blog post for a list of local places to watch with your family. Tuesday, August 22 Home School Special at We Rock the Spectrum is back by popular demand! On Tuesdays from 10am until 1pm, the gym will offer a discounted admission rate of $8 for home schoolers. At 3:30pm, explore Barbara S. Ponce Public Library through songs, stories and games in Library Explorers' Adventure Program. Children in grades K through 2 will enjoy hands-on science investigations, fun art projects and exciting learning activities in this new early elementary program. Wednesday, August 23 Alpha House of Tampa will be on site at Great Explorations to provide free developmental screenings from 10:00am until 2:00pm. Space is limited so contact the museum to reserve your spot! Enjoy exciting and educational hands-on STEAM activities at Barbara S. Ponce Public Library at 3:30pm. Thursday, August 24 Introduce your little ones to the wonders of the natural and cultural world at Wee-Time at Weedon! Starting at 10:30am, children ages 3 to 5 will be treated to a variety of stories and hands-on activities that connect them to their environment. Space is limited and registration closes 24 hours before the program. After school, relax and play at Kids Yoga at Gulfport Public Library. Sunday, August 27 Join St. Pete Eco-Village Sunday morning for a farm and garden community day! You can help in the garden on a variety of tasks, taste veggies, pick veggies or flowers and tour the Eco Village Farm. All ages are welcome and kids are encouraged to attend! From 11am until 2pm, bring your rocks and painting supplies to Punky's Bar and Grill for a St. Pete Rocks swap and paint party. Food and drink specials will be available. |
