Regional Experts Gather for Living Shorelines Workshops

 

The San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative, Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve, and Climate Science Alliance-South Coast hosted a Living Shorelines and Resilience in Southern California Workshop in San Diego in June.  A second workshop in Costa Mesa is planned for August.

Climate Science Alliance Summer Conference Recaps

Climate Science Alliance staff presented recent work at three conferences this summer: 

  • 2017 National Adaptation Forum: CSA Director, Amber Pairis, organized and spoke on several panels and the pleanry and co-hoseted a booth with Climate Collaborative Director, Laura Engeman to showcase San Diego.
  • 2017 ESRI User Conference: CSA Program Manager, Laura Hampton presented on the use of story maps for climate communication.
  • 2017 International Urban Wildlife Conference: CSA staff presented the Alliance's State of the Science project assessing the ecological impacts of climate change in our region.

Art of Change is back! Be sure to visit the art exhibit and children's scavenger hunt at the San Diego Central Library.  Art of Change is on display now until September. More locations throughout the county starting in the fall.

CSA partnered with the Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation to bring 80 students from three southern California Tribes to Batiquitos Lagoon for Climate Kids Field Trips.

We are featuring the La Jolla Band of Luiseño Indians in our partner spotlight for their strong leadership in bringing climate science into tribal planning, decision-making, and education. They have taken the lead on hosting a free Southwest Tribal Climate Change Summit to learn and share information on climate change impacts and solutions.
