In general, what is your athletic background? Played rugby/ football in high school. Certified gym rat

 

How did you learn about CrossFit Kalamazoo? My wife, and life coach Nicole of CFK told me it would be “fun” sort of like how vegetables are good for you. There is always a challenge and room to grow, so now I'm hooked.

 

How has CrossFit Kalamazoo changed your life, lifestyle, and level of fitness? CrossFit has definitely improved my general fitness and range of motion.

 

List short/long term goals you would like to accomplish through CrossFit Kalamazoo: that's a long list….let's see. double-unders, muscle ups, and overhead squats are a continuing challenge. I would also like to be more competitive in Festivus next year.

 

What do you like most about CrossFit Kalamazoo? CrossFit Kalamazoo is great because of the members. Everyone is supportive and motivating. 

 

 

 

What are your favorite CrossFit movements? Laying on the floor after the WOD

 

What are your least favorite CrossFit movements? ​Overhead squats for sure.

 

What are you currently doing to try to improve your diet? um…..yeah diet. Go health!

 

Favorite movie: Dances with Wolves

 

Favorite and/or current book: I read a lot, so it's hard to narrow it down. I am a Stephen King fan, especially the Dark Tower series. For a good laugh read a John Locke book.

 

Favorite music genre/artist: Depends on the day. Best song ever written was Beethoven's “moonlight” sonata. Followed closely by Marche Slave by P.I. Tchaikovsky. Then Walk by Pantera. Good little tunes.

 

Achievements you’d like to highlight within your life:

I can touch my nose with my tongue. Got that goin' for me.

 

List a few things we don’t know about you:

Bet you didn't know my previous answer. I can hold my breath for almost a couple seconds. I have the record for most failed attempts at being rich.

 

In 10 words or less, what does CrossFit mean to you? It means I won't be the same next year. (only 9 words dang)

WE ARE JUST ORDINARY PEOPLE DOING EXTRAORDINARY THINGS!

On-Ramp Classes

Our On-Ramp class provides coaching in a smaller group setting and is mandatory for those who are new to CrossFit.

 

This class is programmed to teach you the movements, techniques and lingo and is an hour in duration.  We want to ensure you have a good foundation built before you jump into our regular WOD!  

 

Classes are scheduled Monday through Thursday at 8:00 p.m. The duration is 1 hour and up to 8 classes are scheduled over a 2 week period - 5 are mandatory before we move you on to a regular WOD.

The Festivus Games!

On April 22, a crew of CFK Athletes participated in the Festivus Games hosted by CrossFit 517 in Jackson, MI.

 

 "Congratulations to the CrossFit Kalamazoo crew for bring home some well earned hardware. I can't tell you how proud I am of ALL of you and your gutsy perfomances today at the #festivusgames . You represented CFK like rock stars." -  Coach Tim

 

 

Try A Class - Offered Every Saturday! 

Ready to check CFK out? You can  "Try A Class"  every Saturday at 10am and join us in our Partner WOD!   

 

When you join us for the first time, you will be partnered with a CFK Athlete and you will be encouraged to do it at your pace.  This is a great opportunity to try out a workout at our facility, visit with our CFK community and be a part of the Community that makes CrossFit Kalamazoo so great!  

 

The cost to join this class is $10 (limited to newbies to CrossFit and does not apply to experienced CrossFitters dropping in).  If you sign up for our On-Ramp class, the $10 intro fee will be applied to the cost of the On-Ramp class. 

 

Reservations are required so please call 269-251-1677 or send an email to reserve a spot.  Since class starts on the hour, please arrive 15 minutes early to check in, complete a waiver and stretch.
