Back to Basics:

Recruiting & Building Your Team

of Beautycounter Rockstars!

We are more than half way through the month of February and are yet again on pace to have another record breaking month for our team!  That just goes to show that when band together and touch a few new people every month with Beautycounter that anything is possible!  With so many consultants who are just jumping in with Beautycounter I thought now would be the perfect time to a 4 part, Back-To-Basics series focused on recruiting/teambuilding!  This will hopefully serve as a refresher for everyone as I'm always referring back to my recruiting notes and examples!

So here's how this mini series will break down:

Part 1: What is Recruiting & How to Change your Perspective (See Below!)

Part 2: Why It's Important

Part 3: How to Do It & Who + Specific Examples

Part 4: Handling Objection & Team Challenge

So What Exactly IS Recruiting, WHY Does It Seem So Scary

& How To Change Your Perspective!

When I first joined Beautycounter I thought, "How in the world am I going to talk to someone about Beautycounter when I'm just learning about the business myself?"  What I discovered was that as much as I wanted to know EVERYTHING about the Beautycounter, our products, ingredients and the industry before I started "spreading the word" and reaching out - I quickly learned that I was never going to!  In fact, all of us, no matter how long we've been with Beautycounter are still learning new things about this business on the daily.

So I made the decision to get out of my head, get confident and just start DOING!  I would look back at my "why" story to remind me of why I decided to join Beautycounter before contacting someone.  I knew doing this would remove my fears and that my passion for this company, our mission, and what it has meant to me would shine through.  And it HAS ;-)

So let's get back to the basics on WHAT recruiting is

and what it means:

1) First of all, recruiting isn’t something you do TO someone, but something you do FOR someone! (This is where we must change our perspective!)  It’s part of what we do because it’s a part of what EVERY company does!  You are the CEO of a potentially huge business.  Why wouldn’t you be looking for and inviting the very best of the best to join you?  Our opportunity is impressive and we want impressive people to be a part of it!

2) Recruiting should be sincere and it should feel good to be asked or recruited. It means you are wanted, needed, and valued.  It’s not “icky” because offering someone a flexible, part-time opportunity with no catches” that is fun and meaningful (and compensated well for!!) could enhance that person’s life in so many ways!

3) When reaching out to a potential prospect/teammate, take a few minutes and put yourself into their shoes.  Start thinking about WHY Beautycounter is something THAT PERSON should be interested in hearing about.  It doesn’t matter what Beautycounter is if that person doesn’t know HOW they could fit into our story or HOW Beautycounter could work for them.  If we work on tailoring each and every conversation we have to that person, none of the other information is even necessary!

4) How could being a part of our mission make someone’s life better? How would it provide a solution or fulfill a need?  It can bring so much joy to their lives because they believe in the work they are doing and not just doing it for a paycheck.  It brings new people into their lives that they now couldn’t imagine their life without.  It can help someone feel like they are contributing to their family in a different way – which can do amazing things for confidence and self-esteem.

5) And remember - less is ALWAYS more when it comes to recruiting!  It leaves plenty of opportunity to dive into what and who Beautycounter is at a later date.

So let's change our perspective, get out of our comfort zone & do someone a favor by introducing them to Beautycounter!  What we do is too amazing to just keep to ourselves! xo
