I've been working on a presentation I'm giving next month and I wanted to share my 3 basic tips on what to do when you are having a #BadHairDay (I've included the pictures I'll be showing too...)
#1 - Wear Lipstick: This is the quickest easiest fix to make you feel better about yourself. Put your lippy on before you get dressed event and see how it changes everything! Also pop it on if you are feeling blah before a meeting, going to lunch or just when you're in the car wanting a lift!
#2 - Throw on a Jacket: Sometimes when I have my yoga pants or jeans on, just putting a jacket over the outfit can create a whole new look and feel, instant uplift!
#3 - Love black: So many people say to avoid black or they always say with shame how they wear too much, I say never worry about that! Colours hold a lot of energy and black can be a neutral place to create an energy YOU want to project! Also I see it as the canvas to put the spotlight on a single piece, bag, (jacket), necklace, earrings, shoes, make-up. Plus of course we always feel it hides the bits we may have a love hate relationship with! So never feel bad about going to black when having Bad Hair Day - it's perfect for all occasions ;)
While researching self love, it has been amazing how much it's all about how we look, how we 'think' we look and judging ourselves so harshly. I wanted to share what I feel is my main advice for Fashion for Self Love - Dress without hiding the REAL you. Simple? Then give it a try!
If we dress how we REALLY want to dress, it gives us so much more than what we think it will give us. In that action of being fearless in expressing yourself, you will create more opportunities to express yourself in other areas. So how do I do that you may ask? That piece that you'll wear when you lose that extra weight, but keep it in your wardrobe cause you love it, that top that you love but it's too good to wear out, so I'll 'save' it for a special occasion, people will look at me if I wear that top with that skirt..but I want too..."
Any of those familiar? I personally love right now how you can wear tutu's or feather skirts with T-Shirts and throw on a jacket, temp tats displayed on your face or any other part of your body. Your favourite 2 patterned items that would seem to clash, but in fact strike a whole new look. Today people respect that form of self expression, it's being authentic and people love it - so don't be afraid to be YOU.
