Gliding Towards Nationals

I know you have been waiting for my next newsletter.  I don’t know where to start!

First, I have a partner, Jeffery Chen!  Our goal is to get to Nationals at the Juvenile level this year (Minneapolis).  There is a lot of work to do but we are having lots of fun together – and we love to correct each other.  He makes me laugh when her hunches his shoulders and rolls his eyes.  Maybe we’re a bit awkward now because he is so much taller than me, but I’ll skate big and one day, I’ll catch up.  My Dad is 6’ 3’’!

We are working on being in perfect synch and staying very close together while still showing emotion and flare.  Our spins and lifts are getting better every day!

One day, I hope we'll be as good as Meryl Davis and Charlie White!

When I’m not working with Jeffery, I am focused on my Silver or Novice Solo Ice Dance.  I would like to go to Nationals in solo ice dance again this year too.  After my Mom drove me 1,783 miles, I came first in the Silver Pattern dances in competitions held in Phoenix and Vacaville.  I also came second in the Novice combined event which included the tango and my free dance to Moon River.

My next competition is in Seattle. I need to keep competing to get enough points to go to Nationals.

Please help me get to Seattle

Off ice, I have been busy too! I have graduated to “en pointe” in ballet (very excited!!). In addition, I was invited to skate with Meryl Davis and Charlie White (they were the first Americans to win the gold medal at the last Olympics in Ice Dance) when they visited our rink (see above).

Finally, this past weekend, I was invited to give an exhibition of my freestyle artistic program for the USFS promotion of figure skating in Los Angeles.

I love this sport!

Stay tuned for videos from Vacaville competition
