How to deal with this wonderful Summer

8 August 2018

I am shortly running my first Reiki courses so get in touch if you are interested in this lovely healing modality.  And, a thank you from me to the RNLI.

Well, we're certainly having an amazing summer.  So here are some tips to keep that summer body tip-top.

Have a natural facelift massage to revive your facial skin and counteract the effects of the sun and constant drying from using harsh sunblocks. Indian head massage will encourage fuller hair growth and body massage invigorates and tones the skin.

And see the feature below on how amazing Thai foot massage is.

Have you lost a lot of weight recently? That's great but it can leave your skin looking a bit saggy. Massage can help!

Massage can bring about:
* improved circulation, increased nutrition to the cells and encourages cell regeneration
* increased production of sweat from the sweat glands, helping to excrete waste products
* vaso-dilation of the surface capillaries helping to improve the skin’s colour
* improved elasticity of the skin
* increased sebum production, helping to improve the skin’s suppleness

To book your session or to set up regular sessions please do get in touch with me.

Are your legs feeling heavy in this heat? Do your ankles feel puffy? Are your feet aching?

Have a Thai foot massage! My clients are loving this treatment which works on the feet and lower legs to release stagnant energy and leave you feeling full of beans again.

Have an hour session or indulge in a 90 minute Super Session and combine with back massage, Indian head massage, natural facelift massage or Reiki.

We really have been having the most amazing summer!  Personally, I have been getting in and on the water as much as possible and loving it!

For many sunburn is an issue, as we don't often see so much sun! Sunburn may happen even if the sun does not feel particularly strong and children are especially vulnerable.

Some common sense advice is to avoid the midday sun, use good quality high protection sunscreen and re-apply regularly, especially after swimming.

The following homeopathic remedies are traditionally used to help with minor sunburn:
* Belladonna – Painful, bright red, hot skin with possible throbbing headache and blistering in severe cases.
* Urtica – Mild sunburn with itching, or allergic reactions to the sun in the form of prickly heat
* Cantharis – Painful sunburn with possible blistering.
* Urtica Cream – A soothing topical application for burning, itching and allergic reactions to the sun
* Calendula Cream – Soothing and healing for mild sunburn (the Neal's Yard Remedies one is lovely!)

I can also make up a great after sun solution with selected remedies and aloe vera gel. Get in touch with me if you would like to arrange for some (my husband swears by it!)

Focus on... adrenal fatigue

So many of my clients have been dealing with emotional, mental and/or physical stress for so long for whatever reason.

Constantly tired.  Lethargic.  Mind always buzzing with what needs to be done.

Sound familiar?  You may well be suffering from adrenal fatigue.

If this sounds like it could be you, book in for regular massage sessions.  It may well be the answer for you.

Multiple studies have shown that massage therapy can lower cortisol levels, increase dopamin and serotonin (our happy, feel-good hormones) and lower excitatory hormones like norepinephrine and epinephrine - otherwise known as adrenaline.

If you have too much norepinephrine or epinephrine it can lead to feelings of anxiety.  Too little dopamine and serotonin can cause depression and other psychological problems.  It is such a fine balancing act!  And if massage therapy can help to bring that balance then it may just be the right approach for you.

Something to think about?  Give me a call.
