On March 8, the Pears Program for Global Innovation, in partnership with Bewell.il, hosted the Indian Market Access Cocktail, a unique opportunity for Israeli entrepreneurs and healthcare practitioners to dive into Indian healthcare sector opportunities and network with over 20 Indian healthcare representatives visiting Israel for MEDinISRAEL. The event included five round tables, addressing topics of critical healthcare challenges, financial technologies and digital health and co-facilitated by Indian and Israeli experts. The first Drink, Pitch, Mingle Jerusalem took place on April 4 to spread the word of innovation for international development, and shine a light on the great Jerusalemite entrepreneurs that have taken on this cause. We heard five inspiring pitches about off-grid water systems (Yuval Ziv from WaterComms), malaria eradication (Arnon Yafin from Zzap Malaria), affordable female hygiene (Yael Levinson from Alma), a marketplace for agriculture-advisors (Opher Moses from Cultivu), and mobile child-pneumonia diagnostics (Ian Solomon from RespiDx). TAU Innovation Conference 2017 is coming up! There are 500 million small-scale farmers worldwide. Most have only a few potential buyers, and their buyers face challenges sourcing produce consistently. Up to 40% of produce is lost post-harvest. FarmZee is a digital marketplace connecting farmers and buyers to solve these problems, create mutual benefit and reduce food waste. FarmZee currently operates in Zimbabwe and Tanzania, and is seeking seed funding and partners on the ground with networks of small-scale farmers, preferably in Africa.
