CURRENT EXHIBITIONS

Clemson National Print and Drawing Exhibition

February 15- March 15 2017

Opening with Exhibition Lecture & Awards: Feb 17, 6-8pm

Clemson University - Lee Gallery, Clemson, SC

"Since the beginning of our time on earth we have responded to the impact of change in every aspect of our human experience. In the ever-expanding social, technological, biological and digital era, change is taking place at unprecedented speeds while the world is becoming a much smaller place. We are compelled to adapt, process and transform our understandings and perspectives on a daily basis. What we knew yesterday has mutated into a different context today, which will ultimately inform how we think about tomorrow. The aim of the exhibit is to present an exploration into the nature of change and the responses it elicits through a wide variety of contexts.".

RECENT NEWS

After welcoming our second daughter into our family this year, I’ve finally been able to grasp some dedicated Studio Hours. Before that, I patiently waited for the first sign of “tired baby eyes” and parachuted into my creative mindset at the onset of nap-time. Grabbing an hour here and there, (even still) I unroll my "travel studio" at the table, or next to the stroller, or shoot a few photographs from the car window. In the early days, this past summer, I started my 100 Days of Nap Time Sketches project, which has uncovered a whole new facet to my art practice. It had been decades since I worked with any painting materials, now my interest in water color has grown exponentially… leading into a new body of work that I’m extremely excited about. More news on that should arrive by Summer! In the mean time, please, feel free to spy on my process and real life inspirations through Instagram.

I’m very proud to have been selected into the Alameda County Arts Commission public art registry for consideration in upcoming projects. Designing and installing a public art work is one of my larger studio goals, this is annother step in manifesting that mission.

Next on the Winter into Spring Agenda, setting up a dashboard camera system for a new foggy-day photographing project, those antique printing presses still need assembling, I’d like to get a regular Art Mom’s afternoon tea going and more family sledding day-excursions!

If you find yourself in Oakland this spring please get in touch. I would love to grab a coffee, catch up in the Studio, or meet up at a show.

Warmest Regards!

    Karen
