Focus on... Neal's Yard Mother Balm I use beautiful nourishing Neal's Yard Mother Balm in my pregnancy massage (and I can use it in other massage sessions too if you like the sound of it). This 100% organic, fragrance free balm deeply nourishes and can improve the appearance of stretch marks, making it ideal gift for the mum-to-be, or anyone! With a blend of skin-nourishing oils and beeswax, it can also help to increase skin's firmness. |

Massage during pregnancy can help to: * increase ciruclation of blood to all areas of the body, including the placenta * reduce strain on the muscles of the lower back, abdomen and shoulders * increase muscle tone * improve elasticity of the skin * encourage rest and relaxation * help to reduce fatigue due to increased oxygen absorption and enhanced waste removal * stabilise hormonal fuction through increased stimualtion of glandular secretions * increase energy levels * elevate mood due to the increased endorphin production * reduce fluid retention due to more efficient lymph circulation * soothe nerves and promote relaxation And this is generally true of other forms of massage too. |

Focus on.... sports injuries and recovery Did you know that I am also qualified in kinesiology taping? The Kinesio Taping technique was developed by Dr. Kenzo Kase in Japan more than 25 yrs ago. In the 1970's Dr. Kase began searching for a sports taping method which could assist in the healing of traumatised tissue and muscles. He found that standard taping techniques, such as athletic taping and strapping, provided muscle and joint support, however, they reduced range of mot...ion, did not support the fascia and, in some cases, inhibited the actual healing process of traumatised tissue. Kinesiology taping supports posture and alignment and is designed to support the muscles and joints and aid in lymph flow and blood circulation. If you are recovering from an injury or you need support in a specific area talk to me about how kinesiology taping can help you get stronger. Perfect if your New Year's resolutions include a new sport or getting fit! |
