Michele Adair - Senior Center Director

I'm Michele Adair and I am proud to work at the Wheatland Senior Center. I am fortunate to be a 3rd generation Wheatland resident. My husband Jeff and I enjoyed raising our two daughters here, recognizing the advantages of growing up in a small town, just as we had. I graduated from Wheatland-Chili, and received a BS in Sociology and Elementary Education from Nazareth College.  After teaching Pre-K for 11 years and looking for a change, I found a great new career as the Wheatland Senior Center Director.

I have been honored to spend time with our wonderful Wheatland seniors, many whom I have known most of my life! I see the value of socialization for older adults, and the difference it can make for someone.  Being able to come to a bright, happy place where there are people of similar ages and situations, in addition to a hot, nutritious meal and unlimited conversation and laughter, has improved the quality of life for all of our seniors. We are always looking for new activities, outings and educational experiences to share with our seniors, and hope that residents age 60 and over will stop in for a visit.

What is the Wheatland Senior Center?

The Town of Wheatland Senior Center is designed specifically for the enjoyment and leisure of the mature adult population, ages 60 years and above (and their spouse of any age). Recreational, social, educational and health-related programs, activities and services are offered in a warm and friendly environment that are intended to help senior citizens maintain their independence in the community. This includes a lunchtime hot meal program.  Van transportation is provided upon request to and from the Senior Center and also provided for day trip outings. The Senior Center is located in the Wheatland Municipal Building at 22 Main Street in Scottsville New York.

Eldersource - An Important Resource for Seniors!

An important service of the Wheatland Senior Center is providing convenient access to an Eldersource Care Manager for guidance regarding eldercare situations. An Eldersource Care Manager is a social worker who is trained in geriatrics and the ins and outs of our community’s complex eldercare system. A care manager can assess your situation, discuss a care plan, link you to services or assist with a move to a higher level of care. An Eldersource Care Manager is available at the Senior Center on the 4th Monday of each month.

To contact the Senior Center, call (585) 889-1284 or send an email. We look forward to hearing from you.
