Summer; utmost yang, HEART, fire, abundance and joy. I candidly admit that writing something creative, authentic and intelligent doesn't always come naturally for me; less often than I would like and especially when I'm on a deadline or commitment. I wanted to tap into the creative, fiery and passionate energy of the summer and speak from the heart and when I talk to clients about tapping in to the natural energy of the environment around us it sounds simple. And it is simple when we let it be that. Sometimes, when I take the time to practice what I teach, the deadlines or time or overthinking fights the natural current. This is what I want to talk about today. Authenticity, heart intelligence, attunement, candidness, whole-heartedness and sometimes even some good old fashioned frankness. I have come to the cold hard fact that what I resist will persist and this cycle will continue until I surrender and open up to exposure and vulnerabililty. The chinese symbol for crisis is said to be very similar if not interchangeable with the symbol for change. I'm sharing with you open heartedly that often my surrender is ugly, hard, full of frankness and very much a crisis. I know after years of resisting that if I don't get real with it, sit with whatever it may be, with the utmost lovingkindness for myself, that great and beautiful expansion that I have experienced time over again will not burst forth. I thought I was brilliant tonight when I sat down to get creative with the subject of this letter and rolled through titles like Ph.D in Life Archictecture, Life Designer and Internal Decoration Manager...and then...hearchitecture came out which lead to my final iteration of {heart} chi {tecture). Alas, I am not the first one to come up with this term BUT I can tell you what it inspires in me. Through organizations such as Heartmath Institute and research, we are starting to see the profound impact of heart-brain coherence and interactions. As such this word symbolizes to me heart intelligence harnessed through chi(qi), our vital energy, in a master design. {heart} chi {tecture). I'm using this going forward, I'm going to get my Ph.D in {heart} chi {tecture), care to join me?

|| \\  Dr. Caelin White  // || is this week's featured BTH Tribe member. I look to Caelin whenever I'm in need of a healthy reminder of the enormous capacity of the human mind and body. The abundance of mind/body connections that when nourished with the right skills, motivation, enthusiasm and support can lead to a life full of abundance.

I met Caelin when he was in his final year of his Post Doc studies of clinical psychology. I was fascinated by Caelin's own personal journey and accomplishments not only scholastically but also in the world of sports...the gratification he finds and the coherence he experiences when he taps into his edge, both mentally and physically.

Check out some fun Q&A time with Caelin and contact him for more information. One thing that I am personally working on  in my community is reducing the stigma of  therapy and counselling. So many times I have shared with a patient or recommended seeking therapy and they were taken aback at the fact that I myself work on an ongoing basis with a clinical psychologist. It is so beneficial to seek professional help and guidance from a trained professional. I cherish my mental wellness just as much as my physical as they are one in the same, an integral connection. I don't have to be ill or suffering to participate in psychotherapy. I choose to invest in my healthcare with a range of modalities including psychotherapy.

The summer event you are counting down the days until

Sinister 7 Ultramarathon - July 9-10...3 days left!

3 core desired feelings resonating with you right now

Connection, Gratitude, Reflectiveness

When and/or where do you feel the most alive, most like yourself?

I feel most alive when I'm several hours into a long run and traversing a high mountain ridge. The sun is shining, there's a good song playing on the iPod...perfection. And backcountry camping, but that's a more "grounded" sense of being alive.

If you could create your own spirit animal, what would it be and what does that represent to you?

Definitely a goat-squirrel hybrid...yeah, with some mongoose mixed in.
