"Isn't it vain to LOVE yourself?

Happy Monday and what a beautiful Monday it is! (Even though a wee bit overcast in Sydney...)

The last week has been big week for me and I’m sure probably for you too, as we all seem to have big weeks these days.  My week was had a film shoot, 2 Keynote Presentations, one for over 50’s and the other for what seemed to be under 25’s. Both were just as inspiring, eager yet vulnerable minds wanting to express themselves in a way that satisfied so many thirsts.

The thirsts are what we all carry, the thirst to be seen, be self-expressed, be successful, be happy and of course be loved.

Whatever age or stage of our life, we all seek the same thing, to be loved and to love. We all need human connection whether it’s it physical or emotional and more than ever our world is recognizing that.  Some of feel that social media disassociates us from that connection, I actually disagree.  Social media is absolutely part of our lives and an exciting way to connect with more people you know and don’t know! Everyone needs to know how to create their personal brand and share that on social media, whether it’s in their business or their blog on favourite recipes, it doesn’t matter, its all about connection.

Where do we start? Our connection starts with us, it must. If we can’t connect to our own hearts and bodies, how can we connect with others? The remedy is indeed self-love.  We have all heard a person, a parent or a friend say "but isn't that vain or self centred", but as I touched on it in the last newsletter about Fashion4SelfLove tips, it’s old thinking and self-love is all about enabling ourselves to love and care for others ultimately, but yes it starts with YOU.

Here are 3 Tips I personally do to encourage self-love:

1.    Meditate - if only for 2 or 3 minutes, just sit and focus on your breath, just that simple action of stillness and focus can bring instant connection

2.    Be Proactive - which means be conscious of your intentions and actions, check that they are about nurturing yourself and creating connection

3.    Healthy Attitude - simple but often overlooked, what we eat is a direct message to our bodies and sub-conscious mind about how we feel about ourselves. Therefore eat what you know will make you feel ‘good’ and energized in the long run. (I.e. Sugar is an instant energizer, but will eventually deplete your body of many things).

This week if you can at least do 1 of the 3 tips above AND if you don’t, that is tip #4 - don’t bully yourself about not doing them!  We are often our biggest bully, so be kind and be loving to yourself this week.

Love and Sparkle, Scarlett xo
