Cub Scout Pack 375 January 2018 Newsletter |
|
|
It's been a busy couple of months since our last newsletter. Thank you to everyone who attended our December Pack Meeting. I think it was a huge success, even with a lot on the agenda. We never could have gotten through all of it without your cooperation, support and patients, so thank you! By the way, if anyone has pictures of the pie throwing, please e-mail them to me. cubscouts375@gmail.com What did one snowman say to the other snowman? |

URGENT - Volunteer Hour Reporting |
|
|
There was some confusion regarding the reporting on service hours earlier in the year, primarily because I wanted to try a new system. Unfortunately it didn't work the way I was hoping and as a result we do not have a good record of our hours so far this year. However, we need that information to complete our Pack's Journey to Excellence application, which is due next week. Could everyone who helped with Scouting for Food please take a minute to fill in the hours that your Scout and any family members contributed on this form? I know it was a long time ago, just do your best based on what you remember. If you have done any other service projects with your Dens, please send that information to me in an e-mail. We need all of this information by this Wednesday, 1/9. Thank you!!! |

Winter Camping - 2 Weeks Away January 18th - 20th Wow, time flies! We only have 2 weeks before our Winter Camping Outing. The leaders have already started planning and I think it will be another great event. Everyone keep your fingers crossed for some snow at Seven Mountains before we get there. The last report I heard is that the camp is currently a muddy mess! There is too much information to include it all in this newsletter, so I have created a new Winter Camping page on our website with additional information, including sign-up instructions. If you have any questions, please contact Joe Zanghi at cubscouts375@gmail.com. More details on what to bring will be sent out closer to the date. |

January & February Pack Meetings The first Pack Meeting for 2019 will be Thursday, January 17th @ 6:30 in the Parish Hall in Good Shepard Church. Please remember that all Scouts should be wearing a uniform according to the Pack 375 Uniform Policy. I have received notice that there is a conflict for the Parish Hall when we originally had our February Pack Meeting scheduled. Please stay tuned for more information once we have new details worked out. If any families have connections to another venue that can host the meeting, please let me know. The room would need to be able to hold 100 - 120 people. |

Popcorn Prizes Please make sure to have your Scout's name on popcorn prizes that will be used at Scouting events (especially the compasses and pocket knives). Several scouts received identical prizes, so having their name on the item is the only way to tell it from another Scout's. In general, it is a good idea to have names on anything brought to a Scouting event, especially camping trips. |

Scouts BSA Starts February 1st As you probably know, we have officially welcomed girls into our Cub Scout program for a while. Starting February 1st, 2019, girls will be able to officially join Scouts BSA. This does not affect Cub Scout aged girls, but if you know any girls ages 11-17 interested in joining a new Scouts BSA troop for girls, there will be an informational session on Sunday, January 13th at Videon Central. This is a joint effort of Troops 375, 31 and 88. Please click here for additional information. |

Pinewood Derby The Pinewood Derby is coming up on February 16th. Additional information, including rules, theme and information about an "outlaw class" will be coming soon. |

Scoutbook.com Scoutbook.com has recently integrated with BSA's myscounting.org and implemented a single sign-on protocol. As a result, you may need to link your two accounts. It takes less than 2 minutes, but must be done before you can use scoutbook.com. If this is not completed before February 1st your account will be locked. Please take 2 minutes to log into your account, and if necessary link to your miscounting.org account. |

Outings Chair Needed We always welcome and look for parents willing to volunteer in the Pack. One of the positions that is vacant is the Outings Chair. The person in this position would take the lead in planning extracurricular outings such as Scout Night at PSU Basketball games or Spikes games, family bowling, roller skating or ice skating events, trips to museums, etc. There are a lot of really fun activities we could be doing if we had someone who could take the time to plan and organize them. |
