Ok! It's May! How's everyone doing? I'm back from Mexico (pictured above <3) and getting ready to head out to Lightning in a Bottle to teach some classes and have some fun! Who's coming with me? |

As I sit in a sunny kitchen writing this, I drink coffee, listen to cars drive by imagining they mimic ocean sounds and wait for inspiration to hit. What I've come to terms with recently is the power of repetition, and habits, both good and not so good. If I keep sitting and typing something will happen. If I keep sitting down in the morning to journal, brilliant newsletters floweth. If I keep track of my own self-care, I am more creative with my classes. It is meditation, it is practice, it is yoga, it is a mantra. I stumbled upon my friend Beth's post on Instagram the day after I themed this practice. It was perfect timing, I felt so connected to the quote she shared by sci-fi author Octavia Butler, "First forget inspiration. Habit is more dependable. Habit will sustain you whether you're inspired or not. Habit is persistence in practice." So is mantra. |

"A word, a name of God, or spiritual phrase that is repeated over and over again is known as a mantra. The practice of mantra is an effective way to concentrate your mind. But as important as concentrating your mind is what you concentrate on. Although the mind can focus on anything, only certain words qualify as mantra." -Ram Dass Journey of Awakening: A Meditator's Guidebook" |

"You can coordinate the mantra with your steps as you walk or with any rhythmic activity." -Ram Dass Journey of Awakening: A Meditator's Guidebook |
