Hello Estonia, What's up? |
Silence ... all around were high snowbanks. ... but not everywhere. This place was once a fallen meteorite. The mythical island at the end of the world, where everything is possible - Ultima Thule. In Saaremaa was a nice warm place where radiant energy, joy and brilliant ideas - Saare Golf where young people come together to generate business ideas and started their own business plan. |
Scream... Birth. The miracle of life. From the heart and the soul. A new story began. The story of film, media and picture. And not only for one person! This is the beginning of the story of the mythical island of Ulthima Thule´s youth. The beginning of a Saga! Media literacy workshop begins. |

What has happened? The first event SKUNK did in the RIBS project was the Inspiration camp. It took place in November at the archipelago island of Kumlinge on Åland where 6 boys and 6 girls attended. They learned podcasting, screen filming, geocaching and did a workshop about entrepreneurship. The camp ended with a brainstorming about connecting entrepreneurship with the different workshop tools the youth tried during the camp. The rest of the time was spent on playing games, a method SKUNK uses to bring youths together. |
What will happen? In the spring SKUNK will arrange creativity evenings for youth in every archipelago municipality. It will be an opportunity for the youth to share ideas and dreams and ways to realize them in different ways. Different methods and an opened mind will help the youths to figure out ideas they might know beforehand that they actually have. |

What have you been up to Gotland? |
Ålands visit in December was the peak of an intensive first RIBS term. Quite a lot happened during those five days: - Podcasting workshop with Åland guests and youngster from Hemse - Student taking over the cinema day at Cinema Roy with… - … world premiere of the RIBS short film “Welcome to Sweden”, made by nine youngster from Hemse and Visby and… - a three-day film workshop at Solberga school with around 20 students making six different films. The three Åland girls participated in all those activities plus had time for a rauk visit at Fårö and the best hot chocolate ever at Elsies Café. |
Further more... One RIBS summer activity on Gotland is a camp on Fårö during the Bergman Week 27/6-1/7. The idea came up at the youth fair in Stockholm in January when two of the film sthlm RIBS participants, both 14 years, started talking about their dream about developing their script writing skills. Together with Film on Gotland they decided to arrange a script camp. The boys will be junior supervisors when planning the camp. The camp will offer two youngsters from each partner to come, maximum ten altogether. |

The first semester of the project has been intense and a lot of focus has been on recruiting participants and creating a structure. We now have about 50 individuals that have participated in our activities in the first semester and around 15 that wants to develop their ideas into a student company. In January Film Stockholm hosted an international exchange between Åland, Gotland. The aim was to participate and document the youth fare ILoveMy.se and Tubecon.se. Over 20 youth participated in this event and our common breakfasts at Film centrum worked well for networking and kick-starting ideas for joint student companies. The fair was documented by a film crew in cooperation with Kista library and Stockholm city council. Film Stockholm is responsible for communication in the project and our communicator Andreas has put a lot of effort into creating a logo and a website that will soon have premiere. In march our demoversion will be visible at ribsproject.com |

During spring & summer Film Stockholm will conduct a course led by our coaches Ali & Jessica in entrepreneurship & cultureproduction spread out on 6 occasions. Some interesting guestspeakers will also be invited.
