Important 2018 Colorado ASTA Summer Conference Information The 2018 Colorado ASTA Summer Conference will be held Monday, July 16th and Tuesday, July 17th at The Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver. We are looking forward to planning an exciting conference. Please go ahead and register and submit your session proposals (see the links below). Session proposals are due June 10th, and early registration for the conference ends July 1st. Please consider submitting a proposal--everyone has something unique and beneficial to share! Register Now for Crested Butte Chamber Music Intensive The Crested Butte Music Festival is pleased to announce the second annual Chamber Music Intensive, led by Emily Ondracek-Peterson and Erik Christian Peterson in beautiful Crested Butte. Small ensembles of serious, amateur musicians will be coached by wold-class artists in a supportive, inviting atmosphere. The Intensive is unique in its intimate atmosphere and unequaled access to coaches; the participant-to-coach ration is capped at 3:1. Additionally, coaches will perform with participants and lead hikes and other outdoor activities. The high level artistry from both players and coaches combines with a special, collegial ambiance to create an intimate, boutique experience. A unique bond is engendered amongst all musicians who travel to Crested Butte, as music and nature come together in one glorious duo. Rocky Ridge Music Center to Offer Violin Scholarships for Young Artist Seminar Rocky Ridge Music Center (Estes Park, CO) is accepting nominations and applications from violinists between the age 17 to 26. RRMC is pleased to announce the availability of five $1,000 merit scholarships, and one Production Internship (full tuition) to award to exceptional violinists. The latter position would require the student stay 2 weeks beyond the Young Artist Seminar. Online application will stay open up to 2 weeks before the start of the Seminar. Picking in the Peaks Bluegrass Day Camp Coming to Nederland June 4-7 Looking for an awesome day camp that will get your string students jamming, playing by ear and LOVING their orchestra experience? Pickin in the Peaks is in its 5th year of offering international level bluegrass jamming, playing and singing instruction to campers and families of ALL ages and ALL abilities (even beginner beginner) in the Front Range of Colorado. Tucked in the hills of our favorite little mountain town in Boulder County...Nederland! This year, we feature Canadian songbird Tracy Lynn (guitar/vocals), East Tennessee educator Jodi Harbin (mandolin/vocal harmony) and longtime camp director Annie Savage (fiddle/viola/cello) with Colorado Music Society president Kevin Slick (guitar/song-writing) housed in the beauty and convenience of the Nederland Presbyterian Church and beyond! Starting each day at 9:00am with a community breakfast and jam, each camper will enjoy an hour each of focus instrument (guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, bass, viola, cello or voice) AND an hour of secondary interest (song-writing, vocal harmony, improvisation techniques and MORE) each day! Jamming starts and ends each day and students are invited to bring a lunch to eat while they get a performance from each of the instructors over the noon hour. Last day of camp - all are invited to lunch with us at the great Kathmandu and participate in our camp concert! It's a 4 day intensive experience filled with music, laughter and sun that will kick start your festival season! Ages 8-100+ and discounts provided for multiple family members.
