Lorax & Lucio enjoy a Portland Town snow day Greetings playschool friends and families, Welcome to these last few weeks of Winter. Blessed be, we have made it through the darkest of the dark that this year will bring us. Knowing that these lands are quickly turning towards their cycle of Spring and Light makes me just a bit giddy and eases these ol' end of season winter blues. Here in late Winter, I sit with these early, frosty, damp mornings and feel the Lonesomes for the places and faces I haven't seen since the leaves fell. I light the hearth flames, send my blessings to these Beloveds, sing the songs that bring their presence to my heart, and reasure myself; soon. Soon, it will be the season of flowers in bloom and howling at the moon. Soon, I'll sit, walk, and talk with Those Trees, next to Those Rivers, with Those Lovers, and under Those Stars. Soon, I'll embrace my kin who make their home to the far north and south of mine. I've spent a long and lonsome Winter, missing their company. But soon, we will gather together under the new and full moons, at the equinoxes and the solstices. We'll weave and sow, make music and dance, and wine and whine together. And on the days it feels particularly hard or too long of a wait, I'll walk it out, taking notice of the Crocuses and the Daffodils showing us the first of their spring dressings. Some of them push up even through snow and ice, and some were saavy enough to wait for the Right Time to Bloom. I walk on, back towards my own cozy ittle hearth, full of heart for the work of the season before me, and thankful for the gentle reminders of the perinnial nature of All Things. Miz Flow |

Worm Moon Full Moon Gathering Thursday March 1st Families are invited to join us on for our monthly Full Moon Gathering of Friends. The full moon of March is known by many names (Crow Moon, Sap Moon, Sugar Moon, Crust Moon), and is the last full moon of Winter. For our gathering we'll work with the general themes of worms, awakening soil, and honoring the passing Winter's repose. We'll light the fires, build a full moon altar together, share a potluck dinner, have a kiddo friendly music jam, and go outside to sing some moon songs to our dear friend, Luna. Please bring a dish to share, your musical instruments, and a special item for the alter to charge with our full moon magic! |

Moon's Nest Playschool Scholarship Fund Last month I set into motion some scholarship funding efforts. Being successful in these efforts will mean that I will be able to continue to offer a wide range sliding scale tuition model, partial and full scholarship to families who wouldn't otherwise be able to access our playschool community, as well as tempoary scholarship for families whose income fluctuates and leaves them without enough to cover tution for a brief time. As part of our Community Care Practice, we don't exclude children from their friend circle when parents are short on funds due to unseen curcumstances and Hard Times. We know that a bend in the river can lead any of us to harsh waters at any moment, and that not one of us are exempt. In this realm we share, we care about and for each other, and that's what makes the Moon's Nest different. That's part of what makes us pathwalkers and spell casters; new culture creators. Having a tithed scholarship fund to pull from monthly would help our collective wellbeing and make our Community Care Practices sustainable for the long term. Please do check out our Patreon platform, and perhaps help me share it with your networks of good folk. If you are a family who currently receives full or partial scholarship, please do consider asking your close friends and family to support your children's access to our play community with a monthly tithe, We have a long way to go to meet our monthly funding goals, but this month this small fund purchased a week's worth of fresh organic produce for our meal program. And, I am thankful for every person who has tossed in yer 5 bucks. Thanks a bunch! I sure do appreciate all of you and your partnership in being able to offer access to more Rad Families, and continue to weave and spin our circle of friends and family here at the Moon's Nest. | | |
