In the last 20 years the "Digital Revolution" has turned life as we once knew upside down on its head. All aspects of our lives have changed; from the way we move, walk and talk, to the way we listen, watch, and express, and finally, to the way we socialize, ogranize, and act. The power of digital technology is all pervasive, has no biases and has impacted us whether we embrace it or not. Specifically, there's a whole new body of research pointing to the overall health impact technology is having on our nervous systems, mental well-being and overal ability to connect with ourselves and others. More recently, there are studies showing that excessive use of mobile technology & social media impacts our brains in the same a drug addicts brain is impacted from drug use. The great paradox of our time is that we have an explosion in communication's technology that can connect us with anyone, at anytime, anywhere around the world with the touch of a button; yet, lonliness and depression have become widespread epidemics. The good news is, that it's not too late; we are in the early stages of this phenomenon and by having discussions and group ceremonies we can begin to bring public awareness to some of these issues. As a teacher of technology, my personal philosophy and practice has been that for every new technological advancement I adopt in my life, I embrace something old and ancient that specifically connects me to my primary senses and allows for my body to re-tune to its natural resonance. This is one way that I've been able to counterbalance the impact technology has had on my overall well being. Come join me for a lively evening of discussion, movement and sound healing.
