THE GOOD NEWS

with The Smile Project: October Update

#StartASpark

What is SPARK all about anyway?

SPARK stands for Strengthening Positivity and Reinforcing Kindness. A SPARK club can be started where any group of people regularly congregate. (Think colleges, high schools, youth groups, and so on). These amazing branches of The Smile Project are designed to promote random acts of kindness and spread positivity and joy. They're popping up all over Western Pennsylvania and for this month's newsletter, I would like to highlight two chapters at the following schools:

Westminster College (New Wilmington, PA)

Slippery Rock University (Slippery Rock, PA)

Westminster College

"Sometimes college gets the best of people and they get so stressed and overwhelmed and just a simple little note in their mailbox brings them back to reality."

Westminster College

Westminster SPARK has been spreading kindness across campus since week one when they set up a booth at the all-college activity fair (pictured above). Each week, they have a column in the school's newspaper (pictured right). Perhaps their biggest undertaking yet? One week ago, they took over the student center with kindness and wrote a "compliment" for every single first-year student (pictured below). Check it out!
