oVc Joins the Mods and Rockers

On Saturday, August 20th, the gang from oVc loaded up a trailer with a 2016 Ural cT, a gorgeous yellow 2016 Royal Enfield Continental GT, and a new Sym Wolf café racer to make the trek down to the Keating Channel Pub and the Mods and Rockers festival. As one of the sponsoring vendors, oVc was on hand to welcome a ride numbering several hundred motorcycles and scooters as they recreated a Briton Beach-style run typical of the clashes between the Mods and the Rockers of the early 60s. In addition to the demo bikes oVc had on display at their booth, oVc's webmaster and his better half brought along their own Vespas to include in the display.

Just before 2:00 PM, a thunderous, swirling cacophony of sound, mixed with the smell of two-stroke engine oil from vintage machines of a former time filled the air. It was glorious madness as wave after wave of riders assembled at the finish point. Here is just a small sampling of the some of the machines that caught our eye:

Thankfully, relations between the scootoer-riding Mods, and those who follow the tenants of the Rockers, are much more civil these days and the dust-ups of the past have been replaced with camaraderie and good-natured fun.

As the day was coming to a close, all that remained was selecting the award winners and the responsibility for choosing the “Best Japanese Import” fell to oVc’s own Ken Beach. He was smitten by an incredibly mint, completely stock 1961 Honda Dream 305 and selected the following as the category winner:
