Each term marks the beginning of new programs while digging deeper with already established programs. We look forward to 6 new partnerships with Mmofraturo Junior High School (JHS), Gyinyase JHS, Antoa Mensa JHS, Adanwomase JHS, Adanwomase Senior High School (SHS), and Kumasi High SHS.

Especially exciting is the launch of Expo NEWTS, our pilot entrepreneurship program. 15 students meet once a week to discuss and develop the skills needed to start their own business and to discover innovative ways to solve problems in their own communities. We can’t wait to see what they come up with!

Student Spotlight: Scholarship Winners Five student tutors received scholarships for their outstanding work during term 1. Chosen from a pool of 25, these individuals taught engaging and clear lessons, their teaching abilities showed improvement, and they went above and beyond to meet their students' needs. Congrats, Expo is so proud of you! |

Term 1 Highlights September Akwaaba! New staff arrived and programs began for the 2015-16 school year. Expo struck up new partnerships with 2 schools, and continued developing and expanding our Peer-to-Peer (P2P) programs at 8 other schools. P2P students took their baseline exams, marking the beginning of a successful term: Expo provided free tutoring in math and English to 130 JHS students and tuition assistance to 25 SHS students! |
October We hosted Expo's first Girls LEAP conference! The participating girls from 3 different schools met together for a day of team-building and a Q&A session with women who are leaders in their field. The Girls LEAP program at Antoa SHS carried out their service project: inviting representatives from Marie Stopes International to lead a disscussion on girls' sexual health at the neighboring JHS. |

November Our P2P students took their midterms, showing us their strengths and weaknesses. Expo's bi-monthly trivia competition became a regular addition to the Kumasi expat life, with all proceeds going to support our P2P and Girls LEAP programs. |
December P2P students took their final exams, showing 19% improvement in English and 32% in Math from their baseline exams. Finish strong! In the year 2015, we provided free tutoring in Math and English to 420 JHS students, tuition assistance to 70 SHS student tutors, and awarded 14 academic scholarships to outstanding but financially vulnerable students! We launched our annual fundraiser so that we can expand our reach to even more students! |
