Journal Journey

We had such a nice art journal class on Saturday and just look at some of the impressive art that was created. Recently I’ve had a few questions about art journaling, the main one is what’s it all about? I get that, it took me a while to understand it too. Art journaling is a personal art journey and really it’s as simple as that. Some people think they have to record their deepest and personal thoughts and while some people do that most don’t, I rarely do. I used to think that you had to be a mega artist and create museum worthy art to journal and that’s so far from the truth.

For me and I think the ladies in our class, art journaling is simply creating art for ourselves. I will never give my journals away, though I’m happy to share with anyone. In class yesterday the only journaling was a printed scrap that said “be fearless”, a gentle reminder that life requires strength. But mainly it’s simply about creating art with color and texture.

In my journaling class, as with my card making classes you have step by step instructions on how I created my journaling page. I provide all the supplies, you only need to bring a journal. It’s truly as simple as that. It’s personal and fulfilling and deeply satisfying in such a ways that card making and scrapbooking aren’t. That is why art journaling is taking the paper arts world by storm.
