  • Oahu ~ Honolulu Area Support Group ~ First Thursday of each month, 1:30-3PM.

Next meeting will be Thursday, March 1.  The group is meeting at Central Union Church (1660 South Beretania, Women's Building).

 

  • Oahu ~ Hawaii Kai Support Group ~ Second Saturday of month, March 10, 10-11:30 AM, Hawaii Kai Retirement Community 428 Kawaihae St., Hawaii Kai, HI 96825.

 

  • Oahu ~ Hawaii Kai Caregiver Support Group  Second Saturday of month, March 10, 10:30-11:30AM, Hawaii Kai Retirement Community 428 Kawaihae St., Hawaii Kai, HI 96825. 

 

  • Oahu ~ Windward Support Group ~ Fourth Tuesday of month, 3-4:30 PM. Castle Hospital Wellness Center, Kailua. Next meeting will be February 27.

 

  • Oahu ~ North Shore Support Group ~ First Saturday of month, 10AM at United Church of Christ in Waialua (right next to the high school).  Next meeting March 3.  

 

  • Oahu ~ Young Onset/Movers and Shakers ~ First Saturday of month, 10-11:30 AM Regency Park Condos Recreation Center (access via Chaminade University campus).  Next meeting March 3. 

 

  • Big Island, Waimea Support Group ~ Second Wednesday of the month, from 1-2:30 PM at Tutu’s House in Waimea.  Next meeting will be February 14.  

 

  • Big Island, Hilo Support Group ~ Last Friday of every month, 2-4 PM.  Meets at Office of Aging, Hilo: 1055 Kinoole St #101.  Next meeting will be Febuary 23.  February Hawaii Island Newsletter can be found here.  You can sign up to receive this newsletter via email by filling out a quick form here.

 

  • Kauai Support Group ~ Last Tuesday of month, 5-6:30 PM.  At Regency Puakea (2130 Kaneka Street, Lihue) in the activity room from 5:00 - 6:30 pm.  Next meeting is Feb 27,  Nordic Walk Exursions held by Nordic Walk Hawaii: nordicwalkhawaii.weebly.com.  Walks usually are held Wednesdays 8:30-10:30 AM

 

  • Kauai North Support Group ~ *NEW* Second Tuesday of the month 5-6:30PM. At The Church of the Pacific. The meetings will be February 13.  Meynard Enriquez of Hawaii Sports and Balance will be our guest speaker. Meynard and three of his therapist's have recently been Big and Loud certified. Big and Loud is a program for Parkinson's and stresses Big movements and Loud speech. Hawaii Sports and Balance will also be displaying their mobile Physical Therapy van.  Still in need of a support group leader to continue these meetings!

 

  • Maui Support Group ~ This group is on hold until futher notice.

Participate in research from your home

Researchers from the University of Rochester’s Department of Neurology are conducting a study to identify the needs of people living with Parkinson’s and opinions and knowledge about palliative care. The online survey will take an estimated 20 minutes to complete and ask questions about your Parkinson’s, symptoms and care

The survey will ask questions about your Parkinson disease, your current quality of life, the presence of controlled and uncontrolled symptoms, your thoughts about your own future care, and your opinions and knowledge of palliative care.

Survey ~ Anxiety and Parkinson's Disease

A new survey from The Parkinson Alliance (www.parkinsonalliance.org) is available and open until June 15, 2018.  It is open to ALL individuals with PD, including individuals with and without changes in anxiety.  

Anxiety is a general term for several psychological conditions that can be experienced as nervousness, fear, apprehension, and worry. Anxiety can appear in different forms and at different levels of intensity. It can range in severity from a mild state of uneasiness to full-blown panic attacks marked by heart palpitations, confusion and terror.

There are two ways to complete the survey: Online and Paper and Pencil – website is www.dbs4pd.org. They encourage online as much as possible. The paper option includes a prepaid, return envelope.
