September Newsletter

Fortunately, Hurricane Irma only just grazed us here in Tallahassee. I stayed about 30 miles inland at the farm where I board my horses.  All was good there too! Not even one tree down.  My home was fine, no damage there either.  We only lost power for about 5 hours on Monday. I appreciate all of the offers from so many of you for places to evacuate to.  Your caring and kindness warms my heart. You guys are the best!

This beautiful tree resides on a corner near where I live.  I was worried about this tree as she lost a large double branch a few weeks ago during a bad thunderstorm.  The owners estimate the tree is between 175-200 years old as there are pictures of soldiers sitting under it during the Civil War waiting on the train. (the old track ran just the other side of the road)  I'm happy to report she handled the winds just fine!  The picture doesn't really do her justice, although with the cars in the background you can get an idea of just how massive this tree is.

Fayetteville, GA Clinic

I still need riders for the clinic in Fayetteville, GA September 29-Oct 1.  I had to change the date of this clinic due to some unforeseen circumstances and lost many participants when I did so.  I am now opening the clinic up for 2 day spots hoping more people might be able to come. Facility is top notch with covered arena with mirrors and sound system, stabling, housing for riders (limited). Feel free to contact me for more information.

Congratulations to Nancy Conley on both of her horses

My student, Nancy Conley, is #1 in the Nation WDAA on her lovely paint mare Truly Unsurpassed.  They were just awarded the Lifetime Achievement Bronze Level, becoming the FIRST team to ever achieve this award!  They are currently showing Level 2 and are headed to the WDAA World Show in OK next weekend.

Nancy and her other mount, Dante, are #8 in the Nation.  She shows him Level 1 and is also taking him to the World Show next weekend.  Wishing Nancy and both horses continued success!  I'm very proud of Nancy and her horses.

I would like to add a photo critique element to the newsletter.  If you have a photo you would like for me to critique, and are ok with other people seeing both the picture and the critique, email it to me.  I can't promise to use all that I receive, as some will be better both picture wise and information wise to use than others.  No intentions of offending people, but it might happen!  Picture should be as close to directly from the side as possible.

Trot is best but any gait can work. Can be English or Western.
