A part of my series SEAFOOD will be exhibited at Fotofestival Naarden (the Netherlands), outdoors in Naarden on a very big canvas of seven meters wide with six images of 100x70 cm! I will post the exact location on my social media and website as soon as I know where it will be. Fotofestival Naarden opens in less than a week, so come and visit the festival to take a better and bigger look!

Microbeads are very tiny plastic particles that can be found in a.o. shower scrubs and toothpastes. The pink dots in my images are microbeads I sifted from a face wash, using a towel. Microfibers are very small pieces of synthetic fabric from our clothes, which let loose in the washing machine. These microplastics are too small for the water filters, so they rinse into the sea, where they form a big problem with (fragmented) larger plastic debris.

The plastic debris kills animals, ends in their stomach and finally also on our plate when we eat fish. In addition, plastics have the characteristic of attracting poison substances like a kind of sponge. The longer in the water, the more toxic it becomes.

There is poisonous plastic filled fish on OUR plate?!

creamy garlic prawns - catch of the day - smoked salmon with dill & chive

lemon grilled calamari - tuna sashimi

Thanks to the Plastic Soup Foundation for all their fantastic work

and for the inspiration! <3
