School Transition at Silver Creek Pre-School
Did you know that a large part of Silver Creek Pre-School's work and skill set is expertise in preparing children for ‘big school’ transition? Their goal is to support the family in understanding the school placement options and to coach and support them in the advocacy process.
Their play-based program provides a familiar stepping stone to the mandated play based program put forth by the Ministry of Education for all JK and SK programs in the province of Ontario.
With the understanding that a child’s best learning happens through play, Silver Creek Pre-School develops a program plan that support each individual’s skill level including cognition, physical and fine motor development, communication, self-regulation and emotional awareness and ADL’s. A variety of supports including mobility equipment, communication devices, environmental adaptions and a highly knowledgeable staff are in place to ensure that each child develops to his/her greatest potential. Early education leads to best outcome for integration and future learning; the Silver Creek Pre-School staff are proud to support their children’s most formative years.
Silver Creek Pre-School works with the TDSB, TCDSB, and Holland Bloorview’s IET program through their special education coordinators, and with parents, to determine the next best placement within their community for children with diverse strengths and needs.
Silver Creek Pre-School is a great start for children, whether they have physical or developmental challenges, or are typically developing. They have been serving children and families, at this location, for 41 years strong!
