AIGINET 2nd Quarter 2015
Help us achieve our goals and double your impact at the grassroots level by supporting our social innovation projects!
Half way through 2015, AIGINET continues to build the momentum around ongoing projects identified from the needs assessment trip in Rwanda.
In January (2015), we pledged to deliver a maize processing mill to the children of Adar Tubahoze Community. The machine is vital to ensuring children have ready maize thus improving upon their nutrition. In addition, the machine will be used as an economic empowerment tool. While serving the needs of a larger community for processing the corn produced, the center will collect a service fee which will be used to generate a sustainable income.
To help us fulfill this pledge, two friends and supporters of AIGINET made a donation of $ 1,500 each and have challenged us to match their generous donations so that we can deliver the machine in a time record! Therefore our goal is to raise $3,000 this summer! Double your impact today and join the circle of supporters by making a donation towards this worthy cause. Let’s keep that power going by bringing to Adar this small scale maize milling machine which costs $ 6,000.00
AIGINET is also partnering with International Medical Response in bringing healthcare services to Adar Tubahoze Community. A team of U.S. based doctors with expertise in emergency care is scheduled to travel to Rwanda this summer to deliver capacity building training in order to improve primary care services at Rango Medical Center. This will provide a direct benefit to both, the disabled children at Adar Tubahoze and the community at large.
The Duhozanye Association, a target beneficiary and partner of AIGINET, is comprised of a predominately elderly population. This community has very little geriatric specialized professional support. The Babahafi project, is one of the few initiatives that offers holistic elder care. AIGNET is now seeking opportunities to build capacity of the project and scale up its impact within the Duhozanye community. We therefore welcome sponsorship to provide training in elder care for support workers at Duhozanye.
The current coordinator of the Babahafi project is Claude Nkulikiye. Claude is a genocide survivor raised by the Duhozanye Association. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University in Rwanda in 2010, Claude started his career as a clinical psychotherapist working in prisons and in counseling services for HIV/AIDS patients. Today, Claude wants to give back to this community of women that raised him as an orphan boy. He is currently a full time employee at Duhozanye, serving as a field officer, and he will be in charge of coordinating the Babahafi project, a holistic approach initiative for elder care. Please contact Claire Umubyeyi at info@aiginet.org for further information or sponsorship lead.
In an effort to strengthen the organizational core capacity, AIGINET is recruiting two interns to provide support in strategic partnerships, advocacy and grant research.
The intern job descriptions are available to download from the AIGINET website.
Finally, stay tuned for our next recruiting event for the 2016 volunteer trip. The application form is available on our website. Sign up today!
Although we cannot do everything we can still do something to make someone smile. I hope you continue to stand with us in this effort.
Thank you for your continued support!
