ALTA Announcements:

¡Feliz Año Nuevo! It's 2017! We made it! And though we may not be sad to see 2016 go for many reasons, we would be remiss to not express our gratitude for your amazing talents and participation in ALTA. Chicago has one of the largest and most thriving Latinx theater scenes in the nation and this is due to the grind you dedicate yourself to daily. We thank you for all the amazing things you embodied in 2016.

Whether you ate grapes or black eyed peas today, burned dolls, wore special underwear, honored another tradition, created your own tradition, or abandoned tradition altogether, there seems to be one common tradition for each new year. Each year we wish to make our lives better.

Following suit, we have many wishes for the new year. We wish you strength. We wish you courage. We wish you activism. We wish you advocacy. We wish you representation. We wish you support. We wish you health. We wish you love. We wish you art. We wish you inspiration. We wish you inclusion. We wish you equality. We wish you community. We wish you fellowship. We wish you belief. We wish you trust. We wish you opportunity. We wish you gratitude. We wish you abundance. We wish you movement. We wish you rest. We wish you peace.

Our resolution is to dedicate ourselves more fully our mission statement. Our mission statement is as follows: The Alliance of Latinx Theater Artists of Chicago (ALTA) exists as a nexus for the thriving landscape of Latinx theatre artists in the Chicagoland area. ALTA is a service organization dedicated to furthering the Chicago Latinx Theater movement by promoting, educating, representing, and unifying Latinx identified artists and their allies.

To fulfill this mission statement, we need your help as ALTA members. We hope you will resolve to participate in this mission however you see fit. Please feel free to communicate with us directly any way we can better support your artistic goals and resolutions. We will always do our best to listen and support you in any way. Contact us here any time. ¡Feliz Año Nuevo!
