Supervisor's Corner

Welcome to the Spring 2018 issue of the Town of Wheatland's electonic newsletter and the Supervisor's Corner. My name is Linda Dobson and I am proud to be the Supervisor for the Town of Wheatland.

As a key elected leader in the Town of Wheatland Government, I look to work with other members of the Town Board to enable the ideas, opinions, and concerns of a wide variety of interests in town affairs and use that input to manage the Town Government in the most effective and efficient manner. I can be contacted by email or by phone at (585) 889-1553, feel free to schedule an appointment if you would prefer to meet with me in person. I am always interested in hearing from the residents in our community.

Spring is a wonderful time to enjoy the great natural amenities the Town of Wheatland has to offer. Be sure to check out the Town of Wheatland's Website and Facebook page to keep up to date on Town news, activities and events.

Annual Sweetheart Dance

On Friday, February 16th, Wheatland Recreation hosted the annual Sweetheart Dance at T.J. Connor Elementary School. The students and their families look forward to this fun event each year.

This year, our event had a record number of participants – over 300 students and their parents enjoyed a fun evening of dancing and sweet treats! The DJ, Brian Levitt from BRL Entertainment, did a great job at keeping the kids moving with dances like the limbo, YMCA and chicken dance. The Leadership Assets Team from Wheatland Chili Middle and High school helped with decorations and served cupcakes and punch. It was a great evening of family, friends and fun!

Quote from Marcy McCall

My name is Marcy McCall and among other things, I've been the manager of the Scottsville Midweek Farmers' Market since it began 9 years ago. I've lived in Wheatland on South Road with my husband and daughter for 21 years.

"We like the Town of Wheatland for its small-town feel, friendliness and proximity to the Rochester area. I started the market the year my daughter graduated from Wheatland-Chili.

With one child and living outside the Village, I worried that we would be isolated from most of the people in the area once she finished school. The market has kept us connected to the people both in the Village and in the Town and has become one of my favorite social events of the summer. I have met so many new people through the market – people I would never have met otherwise. Come meet some of your neighbors and see what I mean!."
