Just a week ago, Lin-Manuel Miranda joined me on Playbill's Opening Night Livestream for KINGS at the Public Theater! Watch our interview. |

Dear family and friends, Happy 2018! I know it's nearly two months into the new year, but I have yet to send an update. I hope each of you feels fantastic and have been embracing this fresh start. I've been a busy bee over at Playbill, of course. In addition to our dear friend Lin, above, I recently interviewed Hugh Jackman (who I can confirm is the most charming man on the planet), Zac Efron, Keala Settle, and more about The Greatest Showman. If you haven't seen the movie yet—go! My work has been gracing the pages of the print Playbills, with articles like this one about Dear Evan Hansen and others like this about Come From Away. Keep your eyes peeled in March, April, and May! As we gear up to the Oscars, I have to say how mindblowing it is to know I've interviewed so many of these crossover stars—from Allison Janney to Laurie Metcalf, from Denzel Washington to Aaron Sorkin. As amazing as it is to write about these masters of craft, some of the most important stories to me have been ones about change the theatre is working to create—like this new play working to prevent suicide or this play moving me to tears about the school-to-prison pipeline. I believe in the power of theatre, and I thank you for supporting it and my quest to bring more of it to light. Love and all that jazz. (Now scroll down!) |

Co-hosting Facebook Live My favorite part of my job. I get you the scoop on the rehearsal process, the director's vision, secret character backstories, and more from the stars' themselves. You never know who is going to turn up on Playbill's livestream, so tune in live. Up next: Jimmy Buffett's Escape to Margaritaville March 15. Click below to catch up on the streams you missed.

Coming Soon: In January, I was able to moderate industry panels—one for APAP about streaming and the arts and another at BroadwayCon about Alexandra Silber's book After Anatevka. They'll both be added to the website soon! |

On a Personal Note At the top of 2018, I fulfilled one of my lifetime goals: traveling to the Australian Open! My greatest passion outside of theatre is tennis and I have now been to three of four Grand Slams. For two weeks in January, I visited Melbourne, the Great Barrier Reef via Port Douglas, and Sydney. You can check out my adventures (and photos of Rafa Nadal and Nemo) on Instagram @ruthiefierceberg! (And, I am available for all Australian vacation-planning needs.)
